    does Hollis support actually exist?

Never did receive a reply on either message left on 12/31. If it's impossible to get info pre-sale, what does that say about how a problem would be handled?

    Huish Outdoors issues

That's a good idea. It could be as simple as management not staying on top of CS, in which case, the remedy is straightforward. Do you have those email addys? I'd like to send them links to a couple of threads...

    Huish Outdoors issues

You may consider it any way you like. I've owned and managed service businesses for 28 years. 2 business days is the standard outside limit for replying to business correspondence, and Huish is at 3 and counting, on a CS issue that should be responded to within 24 hrs. I see a pattern of...

    Huish Outdoors issues

Left 2 VMs on 12/31 on the Huish CS line: one on a Atomic product, and the other on a Hollis product. No reply on either as of today, 1/4. I suppose as long as customers accept being treated unprofessionally, it will continue.

    does Hollis support actually exist?

Yes, I'm aware many businesses are closed for the holidays. My concern is that the input I am finding here seems to follow a pattern of slow to no response through the channels Huish offers...concerns about no responses on Hollis issues, Atomic reg parts orders taking a month or more to ship...

    does Hollis support actually exist?

Thanks for the input, guys. I was researching a Hollis product, pre-purchase, and can't get anyone on the phone today to answer a question. After reading this, I'll be surprised if they respond to my VM. I shop online, as their are no dive shops close to me, and I need the better pricing. Are...

    A few newbie tank questions

Good point. I may add some higher capacity HP steel tanks at some point.

Wow, thanks for taking time to share those dives. :) That's really helpful, especially since I need 30 logged dives as a prerequisite to the Spring Lake class. Where do you dive around DFW? Merry Christmas!

    A few newbie tank questions

I really appreciate all the good input here. I bounced the question off my instructor, Wayne Palmer (over 6000 dives), and he suggested the AL80. He brought up 2 good points: The AL80 doesn't get very buoyant until it's time to come up anyway, and that if I dive a steel 100 or 120, when I travel...

You like galvanized or painted (galvanized +$25)?

What about service life in steel vs AL, in salt vs fresh as primary environments?

    Merry Christmas from Texas! :)

I'm in Houston, so I'll travel at least 2-3 hours for clear ocean or fresh water. My OW check out dive will be in a place called Blue Lagoon, about 1.5 hours north of me. It's a couple of flooded quarries...Spring Lake is the headwaters of the San Marcos river, near my my alma mater (Texas...

    A few newbie tank questions

Thanks for the insights, Jack. I noticed the diameter is 8" vs 7.75", but wasn't sure if .25" was enough to keep it from fitting onboard tank racks. I was considering mainly local, freshwater use, since most charters will involve air travel for me, and I'll have to rent tanks. I had thought...

    A few newbie tank questions

Thanks for the helpful info. I was leaning towards steel before reading it, unaware that aluminum was available with better buoyancy. I see that higher capacity units with good buoyancy are also available, without too much out of water weight penalty. I'm a stocky 5'8", 30" inseam. What...
