Miserable cenote experience out of Cancun.

You all are awesome. Thanks again. I'm looking forward to my next dives to put this whole thing in the rear view.

Miserable cenote experience out of Cancun.

I still haven't heard a plausible theory related to my original question of 'what was this guy doing'? He obviously wasn't rescuing me since it started right at the beginning of the dive...he wasn't concerned about my health status or he would have asked a question or two after we came up...he...

I agree with you all, and will be much more likely to bail if any of this kinda bs ever starts happening again. At 25 dives I'm kinda too new to know what I don't know, but I don't think being unassertive is a good strategy for any diver.

@sea_otter - I am a cenote novice to be sure, but we did do our open water check dives in a cenote during our last trip to Mexico a couple years ago. This wasn't my first cenote experience. I agree that the 'nothing bad ever happens in a cenote' attitude is statistically (and historically :eek...

Miserable cenote experience out of Cancun.

@JohnnyC I appreciate the perspective, but you're misapprehending a few points. He started to hang onto me at the BEGINNING of the dive, right during the initial descent, within 3 minutes of going down, and well before any signs or turns in the dive...and then proceeded to do the entire dive...

Miserable cenote experience out of Cancun.

@scubadiver888 - we didn't plan on cenotes, but the weather was too windy to be safe for anything else until the last day of our trip. The cenotes were kind of a plan b - we were south of Playa del Carmen by the time we reached Cenote Tajma Ha (which is a beautiful place). You sound like an...

Miserable cenote experience out of Cancun.

@Bubblesong - losing me how? Seems to me that if he was so petrified I was already having a crisis during the first 3 minutes of the dive, he should have sent me back up to the surface while we were still in a part of the cenote that showed daylight. That would have been the responsible thing to...

Miserable cenote experience out of Cancun.

A couple of weeks ago I had a terrible experience with a divemaster at a large dive shop in Cancun Mexico that resulted in an ear injury for me, and ruined the rest of my planned dives for that trip. He was completely uncommunicative above the water, and then once under water, he wouldn’t leave...
