    Gold Coast Seaway

Hi all, planning on diving Gold Coast Seaway tomorrow (high tide is around 10.53AM, we're aiming to be in around 1030). Have called a few local dive shops and got some good advice, but if anybody has any more, (especially a map of the site) it would be appreciated. We're particularly interested...

    Going to twins, best way?

Yes you’re right, I overexaggerated a fair bit and I’m sorry, I just though it would make for a more interesting read. I swear it comes across more sarcastic in real life! But the gist was a twinset will solve the most minor inconveniences in my life, and I’m sure it will create a lot more and...

    Going to twins, best way?

This is fascinating to me, because with the first part I find it to be the complete opposite. I was always having to work to maintain trim until I got this tank which I just bought because it was on special. On the boat I've not noticed it to be much of an issue but I usually gear up in the...

    Going to twins, best way?

I actually think mine are shorter :p And I really like that. What are the disadvantages to having a tank that's too short for your torso?

    Going to twins, best way?

Okay, I'm really not having any trouble swapping tanks over. Just the most minor of inconveniences. The justification is: I'm bored doing the dives I'm doing and the equipment is interesting. I have no need for doubles. It's a want. In the long term I don't really want to do Tec (in terms of...

    Going to twins, best way?

Definitely looking into the beach cart. Next time I'm on the ferry I'll see how many steps, and how narrow things are, but I'm actually pretty glad someone suggested that because I did not think about it! I'll address the physical bit below. I'm diving in North Queensland, Australia, but in a...

    Going to twins, best way?

Not an option, and I’m happy to buy and see how it works. If it doesn’t, I can repurpose the extra tanks for sidemount later. My experience is anything but vast, but the last 10 dives or so there’s not been much to see so I’m looking for new challenges!

    Going to twins, best way?

Not outside the realm of possibility. In fact, probably a smart idea if I can get one that works over sand, so thanks a lot! :) However, that’s a bit of a derailment of the thread, I’m really just after specifics of what tank I should be buying!

    Going to twins, best way?

I only own one cylinder, so my “perfect” rig (yes, there are for sure things I can improve on it but I can maintain great trim, buoyancy and air consumption with it) is only useable for one dive, then I have to switch to the rental cylinders which are taller and thinner and aluminium and less...

    Going to twins, best way?

I will be travelling and taking the course, but it’s a ways off. Also, even if I learn sidemount, I still have to carry the cylinders 10 minutes up sand dunes so it makes no difference in that regard. With back mount manifolds, at least they can be worn like a backpack!

    Going to twins, best way?

So after 60+ dives, I've finally got my single tank rig dialled in and perfect and I credit that to two really great flukes of equipment choice - my BC and my tank. However, now that things are perfect, time to change things up and try twin cylinders. My main reason for twins (aside from "why...

    Gear purchases you DON’T regret

Most things actually, I usually do research pretty well. Only major regret I had was initial BCD (was a bit too big, and I lost a tonne of weight promptly after). And I still haven’t found fins I really like. My regulator (Mares Abyss 52X) and computer (Suunto Eon Core) we’re both technically...

    Re: Night Dive training requirements

Yup, I've only had two uncontrolled ascents when diving. I've also only done two night dives.

    First stage leaking. Cause?

I was starting to do that and decided to take the second stages off to make it easier and voila...it was the o-ring on the octopus that had gone. Didn't feel like that from the air coming out but I was obviously wrong. Thanks for the help, it was greatly appreciated.

    First stage leaking. Cause?

This seems likely. It can be removed, I'm not sure how, but I'll give it a shot (anybody who does know feel free to chime in!). Thanks alot!

    First stage leaking. Cause?

Is that the one in the first picture? If so, I have changed that o-ring a couple of times now to no avail. Or is there another one somewhere? When I screw in the regulator, it feels normal.

    First stage leaking. Cause?

Hi all. So my first stage started leaking on Friday, the day before I was due to dive! Unfortunately the ferry over to the dive shop was late so they didn't have time to look at it and just gave me a rental set. The rental set (yoke) worked fine on my cylinder, but mine (DIN) doesn't seem to be...

    How to tighten tank strap

Yes I do, at 0:28 or so in the video, but my hand obstructs it from view. I can definitely feel the "pop" when doing it, but when the strap is properly tight, the "pop" has enough resistance that it is actually difficult to close.

    How to tighten tank strap

I'm hoping that's what it is. It's something to do with that area. I replaced the O-ring, but new O-ring was wrong size and I may have damaged the original O-Ring getting it out. Then I realised the DIN connector (I had the regulator converted from Yoke to DIN) was a bit loose so I tightened...
