Experimenting with my own quick release weight straps. Strap goes onto belt and through weight. Still needs to be sewn in two places and a red dog bone pull added. Withstands quite a bit of shock force. Might also embroider the pull tab.
Patents expire to drive innovation and protect consumers from price gouging. If you have a huge margin and stop innovating competition can keep you honest. Sounds like you didn't like that. I'm also guessing you are a fan of generic medication and don't buy the name brand...
I'm saying this...
They will def wear out, and un reinforced they were totally just save a dive. They make a small desktop waterjet now. I would use something like the to cut some stainless steel peices to pop rivet around the wrench to take the load.
Regulators and such arent held on with a lot of force...
These will definitely delaminate unsealed (I'm an engineer) but this was just a POC. The cuts would also have to be sealed because a raw carbon edge would make quick work of cutting through anything that isn't super hard (webbing, paracord, shockcord)
Experiment with a more flexible inner webbing with a coating to make it easy to doff and don. The problem with it is the added thickness makes it a pain in the ass for existing quality buckles and triglides to use. One thing I'd like to try some time is ironing the strap, seeing if it can...
I had, but pack ability for travel was the primary concern. If I could make it flexible, or maybe pack with a similar shape like force fins instead of freedive fins, that could be doable.
Lastly this is just a machined piece of carbon fiber plate and doesn't require a mold which makes it very...
Made a carbon fiber single tank backplate. Mares XR Wing doesn't fit it like I had hoped (they only have two tank slots, I wanted a single center one)
Fun project none the less, save a dive cf wrench cut outs on the side.
Not to hijack, but I know some other manufacturers make just the open heal bit you could order and try to adapt. Considering that with these though I'd like to try a full foot, I'm wanting a shorter blade for travel so will just try cutting them if they go on sale again.
Looking for travel fins, checked out mako and other freediver fins I would cut down, indigos, force, saw someone supposedly selling them locally and had a picture of this up.
Outcast Power Kick Fins : Cabela's
Looking at getting this (i have a cf backplate I made now, and while I have integrated wrench cuts and things that make it super cool, I think I'd prefer a soft plate for travel and not constantly be in fear of abrasion damage. Looking at the Mares XR soft plate (I have the super small mares xr...
@rhwestfall It fits perfectly on it. not full rotation, only a bit. I took the other buckle off. in order to thread the trap I'm going to have to cut the end off and hit it with a lighter, but I'll still be able to go back to the zeagle setup if needed, and now I have two stainless split...
