    Zenobia

I will say it was a smidge chilly in mid May 2019, being the aegean and all. Booked in on a long weekend with the wife and only had 1 day there to spare. I had a rental 5ml, but it was chilly and my head and hands were coooold even with a hoodie and gloves. The guide was comfy in his dry...

Is diving in Turkey worth it?

A wee bit chilly and not in season. It could be fun finding an operator. Wife's Turkish, and we bounced along the Kas/ Fethiye area for two weeks June 2019, and had some pretty decent diving time. I run warm, so a 3mm was good for me _then_ while the brother in law needed a 5mm. ((shrug))

    Socorros Marine Park Fee Alert

I'm planning an anniversary getaway with the wifey. I was eying up a Socorro trip for February, and they just repriced themselves out of consideration. ScubaSpa Maldives just became more affordable by comparison.

Many. But you can do 5 at a time... My tank, wife's tank, and eventually the two boy's tanks... But I would like more sonar functions. Especially simple messaging, networked vital signs.

    UAE East Coast Temperatures

On the sealine side, tons of them. Oh yeah, but the turtles are cut off in the inland sea area, or the far northeast. They'd have a lotta fun. Oddly enough, we had a whale shark buzzing through two weeks ago and circling the GMC reef area. Normally don't catch those hereabouts, or that...

Hopefully your jellyfish aren't quite as nasty and plentiful there. It's amusing when the number of jellyfish factor into visibility. Last weekend was amusing...

    Garmin Descent MK2

Grrr... Garmin online doesn't ship overseas, and won't ship to a package forwarding service (Aramex/QPost/FedEx Global, etc...), and it's not on their Amazon page yet. And also, I don't know if they'll package it as a present with "Congratulations, you won!" so they wife won't kill me.

Watch what reviews you post about Thailand...

Ach lad, what the heck happened to the days of going outside with sabers, or cabers to toss an a wee dram after?

Watch what reviews you post about Thailand...

DING DING DING. I have only ever posted super positive reviews while I was still "there." Occasionally that's gotten me comped a little thing or two. Negative reviews I'm gonna write an email to myself. When I get home, decide if I still agree with that or not so much, and leave the review...

What are options for Christmas Trip dive destinations?

I see you've gone with "nope, not this year" and I'm trying not to give up too.... The current "fun" with travel has my wife and I wondering that. Some places aren't open, don't know when they will be open, or how well they'll do. We definitely aren't getting back to the States this year for...

    Herd Immunity in Indonesia

Agreed. But on the overall impact, risks, and damage sustained: I'm more concerned with TB than Covid. It's sneakier and starts doing lung damage long before you actually realize you have it. In the last published numbers I saw were for 2017. Worldwide, there were 10,000,000 new cases of...

    Herd Immunity in Indonesia

I'd go tomorrow. Easily. Pretty much anywhere. The only drawback being a local return quarantine of a week at a preselected government approved hotel. Blah. That's actually more political & economic than medically related, but hey. The worldwide demographics are still in the high (90-99%...

    Honeymoon Destination Ideas

For cost effective, Baja Mexico. Split between La Paz and Cabo. Then plan an anniversary trip next year. In addition to diving from both sides, you have snorkeling with whale sharks and sea lions, zip lines, camel excursions, a national park, general beaches, and more. Crazy: Egypt, Maldives...

    Zenobia

Yes, absolutely. It's a huge ship, and you don't need to penetrate or tickle the bottom. There are a few areas where it's "in a window, and straight up out another window" so there is no obstruction. Nitrox is wonderful if you have it, if not it is still very doable on air. Absolutely...

    Morocco diving

I work with several Moroccans. One of whom dives here in Qatar. He also states there is no established dive industry and less than great water, very deep very fast, and currents.

Cabo Pulmo/La Paz vs. Socorro liveaboard

Cabo Pulmo/La Paz vs. Socorro liveaboard

Sorry to hop in a slightly older thread. I’m making my every-other-year trip to the US in October, and am looking at adding in 5 days or so of diving somewhere fairly accessible via flight from the family home. Caribbean is hurricane season, so there are some limits there. Would you...

    Questions on Turkey

For anyone else searching... Dove in Kas and Fethiye. Kas has good artificial and natural wrecks, rock formations and turtles. Not a lot of fish. Fethiye had a lot more fish, less turtles, and a lot of natural formations and passthroughs. Both spots were fun, not expensive, and had a good...
