    What are the chances?

I know! I knew then that she didn't know what she was talking about. He meant like if you feel a bit of pain during equalising (in the pool) to stop immediately. He told me you'd have to ignore a LOT of pain to actually rupture the ear drum or do damage. Come to think of it, he also said most...

    What are the chances?

I'm not sure if mine was or not? But he is an extremely credible and qualified dive doctor here in the UK. His main appointment being - "Diving Hyperbaric Physician and Medical Director of London and Midlands Diving Chambers." So he knows what he's talking about. I agree with you about the ENT...

    What are the chances?

Before or during diving? I only ask because the dive doctor told me I could very easily just be hyper aware of how I feel. He told me feeling pressure was okay, pain absolutely not.

    What are the chances?

Yes, so she told me I can't deal with pressure suddenly including diving, flying, Eurotunnel etc. Where I got suspicious, so to speak - was when she told me that the most pressure was in the deep end and to go no further than six metres. Then the dive doctor told me it's actually the shallow end...

    What are the chances?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could tell me roughly what the chances are of losing your hearing (permanently) from diving in a pool, no deeper than 3m. I ask because I was told by an ent specialist against diving, that it would be very likely after my bout of ETD and I could not deal with...

    What should I do?

Hi DDM, She seemed interested until I mentioned scuba diving. From then on, she told me there was nothing there but that I couldn't deal with pressure now, at all. She would say I couldn't know that in the shallow end (which is wrong of course) and I wasn't able to fly or go on the Eurotunnel...

    What should I do?

Hi guys, I've posted here before but very briefly -after equalising with a bit of a snuffle, I found myself to have eustachian tube dysfunction. Never had ear problems before that in my life. I stopped diving for over 6 months and then saw an ENT specialist on the NHS. The moment I mentioned...

    Unsure where to start...

I've n I've never had a problem before with this?

    Unsure where to start...

Sort of. I can equalise but then feel like I have to do it again nearly straight after. Like something is blocking them ever so slightly. No discomfort, just a blocked feeling. Annoying either way. The doctor was extremely dismissive, definitely.

    Unsure where to start...

Hi everyone, I've posted before about eustachian tube dysfunction. I dived once in March (only swimming pool) with a snuffle. After that, I saw a dive doctor who diagnosed me with ETD and gave me steroids to clear it up. When those didn't work, I was referred to an ENT specialist. Please note...

    ETD

Hi everyone, For about two months now I've had blocked feeling ears after trying to dive with a bit of congestion. I'm still unable to equalise and as a result can't dive. I saw my GP and a dive doctor who told me he couldn't find anything majorly wrong, but could see fluid. He diagnosed me...

    Equalising and ear problems?

Hello sir, Thank you so much for your time and advice. If it's okay, I have dropped you a message. Once again, I appreciate it greatly. Amy :)

    Equalising and ear problems?

Definitely, lesson learned! It was barely a sniffle so didn't think anything of it beforehand. But after hardly submerging and feeling my ears about to pop with pressure, I took notice then. I'm grateful no damage has been caused. Thank you for the very important stern reminder. Amy :)

    Equalising and ear problems?

Hi guys, I'm in my open water training and would like some advice please. About a month ago, I had a bit of a sniffle and when I couldn't equalise - after, I felt my right ear was blocked. It didn't hurt or have any water in it. I had a doctor check it, she couldn't see anything so put it down...
