Becca, I did this dive following the same instructions with a buddy on our first dive after our dive course. We were really stoked to find it on our own and had a lot of fun.
Yeah I have an AOW cert and I've been diving for the last couple years down to 40m but have recently heard that some operators will require some sort of formal deep diving certification before allowing divers to go below 30m from their boats.
Yeah, "fee for card" is essentially what I was referring to.
Interesting. I heard that padi charged something like $120 for each AOW cert and i was horrified. I figured they were making a pretty penny from these specialties since they seem to push them quite hard.

Yeah those were the wrecks that seemed most appealing to me after reading about the wrecks there rather superficially. Thanks for the additional recommendations.
Thanks for the info, Jay. I'll check out Corto. I'll be in Subic between 14 May and 20/21/22 May and probably dive with Arizona. Maybe I'll see ya out there.

I'm planning to visit Subic Bay, Malapascua, and Coron each for about a week starting mid May in that order.
I'd love to hear if anyone has any recommendations for this upcoming trip: favorite wrecks / dive sites, dive shops, cheap lodging, other stuff to do in the areas. I don't dive deeper...
Hey I'm Ryan. I'm from the San Francisco bay area but I've been living in Papua New Guinea the last two years where I started scuba diving. I thought I'd come say hi and introduce myself. I'd like to meet divers who want to dive in Northern California, or to meet and dive elsewhere! My favorite...
