A full 200 cuft of 30/30 would probably cost like $120 in the shop I use.
Also, yes, no one here is diving 30/30. Rec 2 really doesn't give you anything if you take fundies, and I've actually never heard of anyone locally taking it. Take fundies, join BAUE, meet a bunch of GUE-trained buddies...
That aligns well with my understanding of responsible computer use. The specific gradient factor definitely isn't important, GUE just has to pick one for the sake of classes. A well-functioning computer will always be more accurate than your DecoPlanner guesses. The point is to be comfortable...
I would like to clarify that while I and some others run our computers in computer mode, it is more of a sanity check on top of full in-class style dive planning. None of the original corners are cut; the computer is just an additional tool. Your car analogy suggests that we're decreasing safety...
My T1 was almost 2 years ago so I wouldn't call it "just recently" but I guess it's all relative. In GUE training you will be using just depth and time and running profiles generated using DecoPlanner (with some ratio-deco-esque knowledge for on the fly adjustments). Ratio deco is no longer...
Haha, I would do it again :)
Gotta be REALLY picky about the days you try it and time your exit with the wave sets. Doubles could easily make an exit very sketchy if you tried on a rougher day.
Sure, for most of that dive site it's not necessary but doubles open up some other options. It's an easy to kick to the trench at N. Monastery to get in a tech dive. The deco in the kelp forest is really nice. There's also some awesome topography South of South Monastery that is accessible by...
Hey @OctoHelm awesome that you're getting into GUE so young.
I'm an active GUE/BAUE T1 diver. I took fundies and T1 with Beto and C1 with Mer. Both are fantastic instructors that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.
You've gotten a lot of good advice in this thread and I would just...
GUE Tech 1 Diver here. It's just a toolbox designed to help make things safer and easier. Having a competent teammate is safer than solo diving. Adding HE to your gas lowers your work of breathing and helps you keep a clear head which gives you more capacity to deal with stress underwater. The...
I'm a new T1 diver, so I've been looking into this closely. I agree that a Tech 60 prereq would make sense (especially since most of the 'T2' dives folks around here do are within Tech 60 limits) but it seems like T60 is hardly being taught anymore. My local GUE instructor also said that GUE...
