Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

Thanks for the report. I so badly wanted to dive today as the swell has died down some. But alas, after an inability to get to sleep last night and my cat yowling at 6am to wake me up, I decided to scrub it.

delayed bags - impact on liveaboard

If I am going diving ALL my essential gear is in my carry on's If I have to check a bag, it is stuff I am prepared to live without. I would have just bought a few clothes in Egypt, minimum, wash in shower when needed. If I needed dive gear for whatever reason I'd have bought or rented. But...

SW Cloud - improvements, feature requests, fixes etc. Let's help make it better.

On Android SW cloud (not sure about Apple) When i put my finger on the graph and the line and info box come up, the bottom of the info box is under my finger. It would be better if it was slightly above my finger when moving through the dive so i can see all the info without taking my finger...

Time to hang up my wetsuit after near death on NYE

You learned a valuable lesson, learn it and move on. Try some shore diving with your buddy. I have had hit and miss success with DM led dives, mostly miss. I much prefer diving with just my buddy which usually means a shore dive. Above all, in the end it is your decision when you go up...

no tonsillitis, but... huge highly tonsils

You say you can breathe normally. Normally is through the nose. How can you breathe mouth breathing only? I had my tonsils out at about age 21, best thing I ever did, those things made my life a misery

Another Drowning at Monastery Beach . . .

Monastery Beach is the second most dangerous beach I have ever been to. Possibly equal first in the same swell conditions. Its right down the road and I haven't dove there yet. The diving is great but the conditions have to be right, they haven't been when I have been able. Even then, you...

British diver found dead - Talay Songhong park, Thailand

If the other diver removed all the bailouts on the way up, he must have known that the deceased was ahead of him. Either by the removal of his line cookies or regaining visual but separated by distance, and unable to follow due to deco requirements. Or at least I would hope so.

    Punta Arenas Chile. Any info?

If I was 18-35 or even 45 I'd agree with you, but at 53 years old the thought of 25 hours each way, traveling 3 flights by air, and then a 4 hr each way drive to hike some mountains doesn't exactly appeal to me like it used to. Especially as I spend 20-30 hours every single week in aircraft for...

    Punta Arenas Chile. Any info?

Thanks for checking. At this point I am 90% sure that I am going to skip the trip altogether. My girlfriend is going for work and I was going to tag along. But it looks like there is no local diving at the moment, and many things are canceled, including the NYE fireworks in Punta Arenas...

What is respectably professional gear for a new DM?

No one cares what BC you wear or what regulator you wear so long as they function. Like everyone else says. Be easily identified, I have seen brightly colored leggings, easily identified fins, a plastic chicken, attached to the tank, the easiest was a guy with dreadlocks who looked like Medusa...

Shearwater's Perdix AI vs. All Comers

I am not at home till Friday to check, but as I recall the max depth and gas MOD can both be changed in Rec mode. Though the settings for those are deep in the advanced section. Try updating your firmware and digging around in settings.

Shearwater's Perdix AI vs. All Comers

I like bang for the buck. So when I was in the position of looking for a dive computer I decided to go Shearwater but used after checking ebay i found... I found a Petrel 1 was around $400 A Petrel 2 was around $500, added compass. A Perdix was around 700 adds compass thinner design and...
