I think it was just an offhand comment about a possible way a fire starts in a trash can. Battery, cig butt, oily rag; I'm not thinking of other ignition sources in there.
You should have heard of that, as it is just as much of a thing. You go in to an auto/truck shop and you should find an airtight can for disposal of oily rags. Though, I fear you can find far too many that don't have them.
Yep, got that on mine. I don't like the idea that this piece of emergency gear would want fiddling in a stressful time. I could flip it after splashing, but that's just another step to forget. I haven't free flowed my necklaced reg yet. It is another B2 tuned like my primary, but with the...
I've been diving an Air2 for a few years now. I'm about to switch to a necklaced secondary and doubt I'll look back.
I like:
- One hose for my primary, one hose for my Air2, AI transmitter, that's it. If you want a minimalist config, that's it. Love this aspect of it.
I don't like:
- It...
OK, this one here.
This feels old wives tail-ish to me. The statement as an absolute seems fine, my problem is: Is this a realistic concern? Is this a holdover from the days of getting fills with wet air? The same concern as opening the tank valve wide open to drain it would cause condensation...
I guess I should ask what everyone thinks is the right answer for storage.
Is full OK for long term storage?
What constitutes long term?
Upright or side or either?
Max humidity?
Max temp range?
If I want a tank for shop air, does that constitute long term/is that dumb?
I’m pretty sure I understand hydro and burst disks, but it can’t hurt to make sure my understanding is complete.
The Mythbusters clip is good. She had found the one above but couldn’t make it through the whole thing. Missed the .50 test. Impressive. She would get through the MB clip.
Well, now part duex...
Somehow, we made it home without my 174psi tank spontaneously bursting and killing us all, and everyone around us. Now I can't fill it. Even just sitting in the basement at 174 it's unsafe in the house. I could use some white papers on safe tank handling and storage...
It isn’t a function of how much gas you’ve taken on. You are correct that the difference is small. The problem is that when you surface at 7000ft the absolute pressure your body experiences is substantially lower than that at sea level. This allows more gas to come out of solution - bubbles -...
I appreciate all of the answers. Idalia caused us to hit the road a few days sooner so I didn't get to work out additional plans. Strapped down, with 174psi, packed into a corner by the luggage, with the valve toward the center of the car became the final answer.
I got my PADI C card in 86. It took much more time, spread out over much more time, and I feel I learned much more than it seems people come away with today. It also felt very easy to learn the material. However, having just graduated college and gone into an engineering position in an...
I might have a special knack for teaching skiing to timid mom like people. They want to have fun. They want to go where their kids go as their kids quickly improve past their own skills. They can't go there with their kids because they are scared. They are scared because they don't have good...
I know there have been discussions related to this. I'm hoping for a fresh direct answer to someone - my wife - concerned about cylinder safety in vehicles.
She spent many years in manufacturing and in the coarse of that work experienced the damage done by 200psi vessels/lines breached...
