What are your favorite type of dives

Wreck diving is my favorite type of diving. It is also why I’m starting down the path towards tech diving. It couples the weightless relaxation that I achieve from diving with the engineer and admirer of history inside of me.

Talked to Scubapro US yesterday and they said the Mk19 is a go

You know I’ll be happy to sell you one if it’s the only second stage available with the Mk19, or for that matter if it’s an optional 2nd stage with the Mk19. The Mk19 will almost certainly only be available as a complete setup here so if we can make 2 people happy all the better.

Talked to Scubapro US yesterday and they said the Mk19 is a go

So I decided to call Scubapro US customer service yesterday and just flat out ask if the Mk19 is coming to the US. I was told that it is coming this year but the person I spoke to was unsure of specifics as far as when it was going to be released and what not. She was also unsure if the Mk19 was...

    Second Thoughts About Rebreather Class

For some reason I was under the impression that the Truk Master was the only game in town now, probably because the instructor I talked to books with them. I honestly like the idea of diving a ship with its own chamber in that remote of an area. Given that, I would probably look to book through...

    D420! How about that?

If that was my only option, perhaps. I’m pretty mechanically handy (I still have all 10 fingers and toes despite being a woodworker, working on farm equipment and serving as a bomb technician) so I could probably safely manage the work I just wasn’t sure if this was a rabbit hole that I wanted...

    D420! How about that?

If I can’t get local service for whatever reason, any reason someplace like Reg-Tech, where I would have to send the regulator off to wouldn’t be able to do everything necessary? My dive buddy actually prefers to send his regs off for service. Thanks

    Favourite local diving spots

Just about all of my local diving takes place in Lake George, NY. Thankfully it’s a 26 mile long lake that’s as deep as 200’ in spots and has a number of small wrecks and other interesting things in it. It’s actually a really nice place to dive and I’m fortunate to be less than an hour away from it.

    D420! How about that?

It’s still a bit early but can you try to figure out a price for the Mk19 to me based upon that figure? Also, is there any reason why I wouldn’t be able to get a Mk19 serviced here in the US if it does not get sold here this time? Thanks

    D420! How about that?

You’re my guy. Let’s see how things shake up but I definitely want a Mk19. This may well be the way we both get exactly what we are looking for. Can you find out if this is going to be a newly redesigned Mk19 from some of your sources? Thanks

    D420! How about that?

If that’s true I will gladly buy that combo and sell the 420 to anyone that wants it.

How do you like your Fusion drysuit?

It’s an interesting situation I agree. Ultimately this is training and work that I am interested in and right now a drysuit isn’t in the budget for my agency. I’m sure they would be willing to provide me with a suit in the future but I would then have to wait, and the training for this...

How do you like your Fusion drysuit?

Oh and I don’t think that getting the suit on and off will bother me that much. I’m used to putting on a level A hazmat suit and a bomb suit. The video of the donning procedure on aqualung’s website actually looks similar to the way I would put on a hazmat suit lol.

How do you like your Fusion drysuit?

I’m glad to hear so much positive stuff about the Fusion suits, very encouraging! They do look to be somewhat form fitting, is there any problem with using thick undergarments for ice diving? My thoughts on going with the Kevlar (Apeks) skin were twofold. First is that that is what the dive team...

How do you like your Fusion drysuit?

So I am wanting to acquire my first drysuit which will be used for recreational diving in the winter months or early spring, as well as my foray into tech and my foray into public safety diving. My local dive shops have been kind enough to work with me a bit on pricing for this item as it will...

    D420! How about that?

You are a very bad man, tempting me so! If I wasn’t trying to buy a new drysuit and a Poseidon XStream setup I would be interested but alas, the money tree that I planted did not grow.

How common is it for people to use first and second stages from different manufacturers?

Thanks to all for the input. I think my problem is that there are features from several different brands that I like but not one single brand that has all the features that I am looking for. I actually really love the Poseidon xstream regulators that I have tried in shops but I wish they had a...

How common is it for people to use first and second stages from different manufacturers?

First off let’s just say that I’m a bit (ok more than a bit) OCD so I tend to like to keep things the same. Having said that I understand that sometimes it’s good to use a mix of gear from different manufacturers to fulfill specific needs. Having said that, I’ll say that I like Scubapro...

Is the Apeks MTX-RC really as good a cold water regulator as the MTX-R?

Are you suggesting that the XTX 200 might be a better choice? Would it be a good cold water regulator for ice diving?

Is the Apeks MTX-RC really as good a cold water regulator as the MTX-R?

Do you really get all the benefits of the Poseidon system this way then? I thought that a big part (at least half) of what makes Poseidon regs so good was the first stage?
