I had just been for a dive at Whytecliff Park (Vancouver). Trudged up the hill. I was literally sopping wet, in my dry suit carrying mask and fins. Made it to the top and was approached by a non-diver who asked me if he was allowed to swim in the water.
Nothing too extreme. Turned up for a dive without my thermals. So I wore two jackets kindly donated by two dive buddies. Not particularly comfortable but I was warm as toast. Sadly (for them) I sprung a bit of a leak. So my buddies had to get around after the dive in damp jackets. They...
Did my 100th in Malaysia east coast. It's very conservative there so nude dives are frowned upon. So my buddies decided I would go down to about 5 metres and change into a pair of shorts. Not easy with fins on let me tell you.
i use metric unless i'm diving in north america whereupon i switch to imperial during actual dive time. then convert to metric for my log. i remember seeing my first american dive buddy's eyes bulge out of his head when i showed my gauge displaying 170bar. it took him a second to realise it...
on a boat dive, i put my cylinder on the boat and turned it on. went back to the dive shop, lugged a few spare cylinders down the beach. unbeknownst to me, our illustrious dive leader had checked and then turned the air off.
at the site, i geared up and, recalling that i'd turned the air on...
You're probably okay with your 7mm. I recently moved to Melbourne from Vancouver and invested in a 7mm. The shore dives around here all look fairly shallow which means you might be in the water for quite a long time.
I just bought a new cylinder and am trying to decypher the markings. I've worked out most I think, but some elude me. Can anyone help with lines marked with astericks? tks

Hiya. I have a drysuit which needs a new boot. It's a Polar Fit by Mares (Mares - just add water). I emailed half a dozen or so dive shops in Melbourne asking whether they could arrange this. Including the dive shop on Mares' website. Unfortunately the only shop to respond was the one from...
You won't need a visa to enter and reenter Malaysia. On the plane, they will give you a form to complete. It gets stamped along with your passport. They will hand one bit back to you which you should keep for when you leave the country. Don't lose it - I think there's a fine if you can't...
I've just done a nitrox course and they taught the formula as well as the underlying concepts. Given the potential problems with going too deep, I made it a point of memorising the formula. I am doing a nitrox dive next weekend and I have planned these dives using the formula, tables and on my...
