    Excessive Ads

Ad revenue helps keep the lights on. One thing I would suggest is maybe put the paid supporters of this site into a special group with no ads ? Other then that I'm pretty sure there are adblockers you can use to block then when viewing websites

new diver - first dive problems

Well I'm sorry if I offended. I'm not an expert on this but I would also suggest looking into anchoring as well so that you don't have to worry about your kayak moving positions in the future. Seems your rope was likely way to short for your depth. Stay safe!

new diver - first dive problems

I apologise if I'm wrong but the reason I asked if all the pictures were taken on same trip because it looks like you didn't change file names for the photos. Most cameras will change the file name by one for each photo. If that's the case you took over 1000 photos on that trip which is a ton...

    Bouyancy Mystifies Me

Wouldn't a wooden cube float with one point down and one point up? It would seem that a log and most things that float will do so with the most surface area in contact with the water.

Why give primary instead of alternate regulator?

My wife is going to be my primary buddy and we were trained same way. What I am taking away though is that it really doesn't matter. You (the diver) are responsible for your own safety and after these replies here it seems that I would be irresponsible not to train both ways and to train...

Why give primary instead of alternate regulator?

Ok so I guess I can see more experienced divers giving up primary because it's quicker, they know their gear and that alternate will work and where it is and that newer divers freak out. I guess I'm thinking about this from noob perspective. I'm imagining one diver freaking out and grabbing...

Why give primary instead of alternate regulator?

I guess that's what confuses me a lot too. I was trained to give alternate and others are even currently being trained to give/take primary. I was in military as well and your last statement resonates with me. It's ALL about how you train. If you are properly trained and properly maintain your...

Why give primary instead of alternate regulator?

I saw that one and read a bunch of it but I didn't see anything that really addressed my question. It seemed mostly that people do what they were initially trained to do. It just seems less safe to me to potentially have someone yank a regulator from your mouth.

Accumulated 02 following a large number of repetitive Nitrox dives over 3 days.

I haven't kept up on this topic but I remember reading that your primary and back up computers both said to go up and your dive buddies computer said to go up and you still decided to stay down for 20+ more minutes? I'm not trying to pick on you or anything but that seems very unsafe. Not only...

Why give primary instead of alternate regulator?

I'm new to diving and also work in a unrelated technical field and for the life of me I can't think of any legitimate benefit to have a diver take primary instead of alternate regulator? I was taught to take the alternate from your buddy if needed and not necessarily wait for them to hand it to...

How often do you check up on your buddy during a dive?

I'm new but would think it's a balancing act. If you and your buddy are swimming further apart then I would think you should be visually checking on each other more often then if you were closer together. My thought process is that if your closer together and there is a problem the person...

I have a brand new never used boring not a Flamethrower. There were only 20,000 made and they sold out in a few days to raise money for Elon Musks boring company. I have everything included, the not a Flamethrower, fire extinguisher, manual, box, and sheet of paper saying they couldn't ship...

    Pontoon Inboard/outboard motor?

Advise I got from a marine mechanic was that outboards are cheaper overall then an I/O. maintenance is cheaper on outboards and easier and cheaper to replace.

Ocean Acidification -- can you see it happening?

I don't know much but can probably point you in the right direction! Doubt you can see acidification itself but could probably see the effects..... Living matter dieing off. If you want to learn what it might look at then look into the Adirondacks in NYS. The lakes there are finally starting to...

    Altitude Diving

Yes it would have to be pretty extreme lol, atmosphere weighs far less then water. She made that statement after me saying it was 1800ish feet and was the highest elevation on driving route. Plus I would assume she knows our elevation here is roughly 500 feet.

    Altitude Diving

So I heard something today at LDS that I don't think is true. So I was talking about the 2000 foot diving elevation and was told that it's also a good idea to not drive down rapidly to lower elevation after dive? Is that true? I thought the whole thing with altitude diving is that when you...
