Edd (Cave Adventurers) is well known and has a great reputation that is well earned. I have not used his online shop just been to his shop. It is THE dive shop for cave diving in Marianna at the mill pond.
I've finished Cavern, Intro, and Full Cave - in none of those class would I consider camping at the end of the day. I suspect you will have enough to deal with, without the extra variability that is camping. And I definitely would not want to get woken up by drunk college kids at 2AM.
In my opinion from a cave diving prospective, it is very unlikely you or your buddy loses all gas at max penetration. One would need a catastrophic failure of the manifold causing leaks from both sides for this to happen "all at once". However realize when a failure happens a lot of...
IMHO people were wasting too much time looking for a pulse. Also the advice about chest compressions only seems sound to me on land most likely a heart attack and they are probably not oxygen deprived yet. I'm not sure if the logic holds true in the water.
No its not. If you have this much against photogs your answer should be - I'm not going to make these dives.
Do a search there are buddy horror stories all the time on this site that are not photog-based.
Sounds like 2 other divers were solo, why did you not have the option if they did...
Agreed. Sounds like you had something against photogs in the first place and should have tried to switch buddies if possible.
Your attitude about having 1000 PSI left when you surfaced is pretty poor too. When you buddy with someone you have agreed to return to the surface when either one of...
If you took a PADI OW you should have had to demonstrate disconnecting the inflator hose. It is a good bet the other organizations require the same skill. According to my PADI OW manual it is covered in Confined Water Dive #2.
500 psi on a LP tank is different than 500 psi on an HP tank. Any 2 tanks that are different will have a different amount of gas at 500 psi - that is why you need to learn tank factors and calculate the cubic feet.
FWIW - It is best to avoid HP/LP/etc and use service pressure when talking...
You should definitely learn the conversion factor for your tank so you can calculate Cubic Feet from PSI. A LP108 has a tank factor of 4.09 which means you get 4.09 cubic feet per 100 PSI.
108 cf/2640 psi * 100 = 4.09 cf/100psi
However SPGs are not very accurate at the far ends of the gauge...
Just got new seals, zip, and pee valve from Steve. Having him an hour and half south of here is just one more advantage to living in Florida. I'm super impressed with the quality of work.
Did you inspect them very closely of any physical damage? Cracked plastic, scarred metal? If so and they are working I'd consider myself very lucky and take them on some dives.
It seems a lot worse than flying and someone being ruff. Since they were hanging they didn't have any padding or...
As we lose all (or most - there are smileys) of the nonverbal communications, misunderstandings are easy. I'm not sure I buy into the idea that nonverbal communication makes up 90% of the exchange but it does add a lot.
Also we all have different expectations. I remember a thread I was reading...
It does appear the evolution 2 does offer a sock instead of vulcanized boot - but I have not seen one with the sock. An attached boot is adds considerable to travel size - plus I just don't like them.
I have a DUI TLS 350 and I like it - with the turbo soles (no need to pack rock boot...
If your goal is to be clear and concise - I have seen 1-tank trip/2-tank trip far more often than I have seen 1 dive trip/2 dive trip. Until you put up that 2 dive trip is right next to 1 dive trip, I would have the same question - maybe worded a bit better.
Even then its not clear your site...
Flutter kicking in the waterhole line - not a good idea. If you plan on diving with the lead guy again - you should probably talk about goals and see if you are compatible. Heck if you don't - a take only pictures, leave only bubbles talk maybe in order. We all kick up a little silt now and...
