    Is horizontal position really better?

It is not so simple. You want to have center of mass around your lungs, otherwise you rotate as you breath. Then tank gets lighter towards end of dive. For me - half year it is drysuit. Wet suit during summer. Partly rented gear during trips. I have only 25 dives under my neck. It is getting...

    Is horizontal position really better?

I am nooby diver. When I jumped in with rented gear I was praying not to float belly up, like a dead fish. That is really uncomfortable trim, I can say. Step one is horizontal. Staying horizontal is most versatile position. Dive after dive I move towards being neutral on any axis. For me it...

    Is horizontal position really better?

in "classic" horizontal your dive computer is below your body. It counts worst case, kid of. If you stay vertical to your limit it can miscalculate NDL, as big part of your body will be below computer reading point. In theory, at least. It is hard to imagine real issue because of that.

Failed my Day 1 PADI Pool Training

it is not about being fast. Its about confidence. I had friend that had no idea how to swim, he went to training. 3 month later he was doing quite good, swimming straight line. Despite the fact he had no idea how to stay in the place or how to turn. :) If you are comfortable in deep swimming...

Failed my Day 1 PADI Pool Training

I went to swimming lessons (basic level. I knew how to swim and I was not afraid of water, but I wanted to do it right). Before session I tried to dive in the pool, I was able to go 8-10m. Talked to college at work, he told me to take it easy and dont rush. Holly-molly, went 20m in first try...

Failed my Day 1 PADI Pool Training

Confident water (swimming pool) dramatically reduces stress. Equipment that does not fit - increases. Start with bare minimum and add things one by one as you progress. Enjoy the water. Go swimming (sport style, with putting head under). You can take snorkel and swim around. You will get...

    Mares Dive Computer Tech Assistance

Hi, After few dives and few days in aquapark my mares smart air constantly shows 9c temperature. I don't have anything deeper now but 1.5m depth was not registered at all when I tried to push it to freedive mode. Is it random or known problem? Is there a friendly way to reset it and keep...

    Newby computer, what to get?

I tried Subsurface in the beginning, but subsurface was unable to import freediving logs (it connected to computer somehow, I feel it would fetch scuba logs). It told no new logs found. So I used official Mares software, (Dive organizer). I was hoping something like this...

    Newby computer, what to get?

Tried it in the pool. So "Mares smart air" is kind of useless as freediving computer if you want any statistics. I believe it has 1s sampling rate, that is fine, but when you fetch log over cable there is nothing at all: Time/max depth/dive time/surface time. And some basic dive session...

A new boring member says hello

I don't play :) I join training time (as well as quite a few other members and all the kids) then we go home and real men come to play :) Actually it is one of the things I love Sweden for. For ~50eur/year I can attend diving exercises twice per week. And while it is not exactly what I am...

A new boring member says hello

Hi, I am kind of boring diver. No particular reason to write here, but I asked a lot of questions and got good help when I was searching for computer, saying "hello and thank you all" sounds like nice idea. I go to local freediving club once a week. They train for underwater rugby, so mostly...

    Recommendations for Easy Breathing Regs?

When I did my OW I was amazed how easy it was to breath from instructors regulator. I wanted to have one of those for sure... Few dives later other DM (same shop) told me, that his regulator is more difficult to breath than renting one. He prefer to suck air and that helps him to safe some air...

    Newby computer, what to get?

Thanks everyone. Mares smart air on the way. 263€ with data cable delivered home. Before I came here I was thinking mostly about suunto D4i novo, I feel you got me better deal. In case someone is reading this topic, my decision was based on: * I opted out AquaLung i100 for one button and no...

    Newby computer, what to get?

I guess I will go for Mares from de page tonight. They can ship to Sweden, should be enough time to get it. Yet not sure if Mares Smart Air is worth +30€, seems a small extra for tank sender support (ok, sender will cost same as computer). @UFOrb Did you find AI useful?

    Newby computer, what to get?

It was eater my fault or web shop. I am not sure now, but i200 cost 245$, mares smart 250$, i200C is 320$. Probably is was mistake on web shop and they added i200c for i200 price, as I haven't seen i200 on that web page. Anyway... Smart or i100 then :) If there is any UK online shop that should...

    Newby computer, what to get?

the cheapest DeepBlu Cosmiq cost 3917, it's quite step up from i200c. At the moment i200 and i200c has the same price. I can save few bucks if I wait for black friday etc, but I will spend same difference on renting on in Egypt in two weeks (I guess). So I willing to buy one now with current...

    Newby computer, what to get?

Hi, I am considering to get my first computer. About me: I have OWD certificate, planning to get AOWD at some point, but I live in freaking cold place and diving will stay to few-times-per-year-on-vacation mode. I may want to visit deeper objects (aowd) or do few night dives, but no plan for...
