Question Daedalus - how good is it? - Liveaboard recommendation

Thanks guys, super helpful input! We are currently looking at two trips, one with the above menitoned Ocean Lovers that seems to cover everything, the other one with Blue Melody, which is cheaper but seems to fully focus on wrecks...

Question Daedalus - how good is it? - Liveaboard recommendation

Hi all, a friend and I are thinking about going for a liveaboard in April 2024 (first week). We are currently undecided between BDE and North + Brothers. I just returned from a familiy holiday to Marsa Alam where I had the opportunity to dive four times Elphinstone from land. That leaves me a...

Question Anyone have experience with Blue Ocean Dive Center at Abu Dabbab

Not sure if it's too late already, we have just been there in November at the Hilton and diving with Blue Ocean: They are locally managed and their organization leaves a bit to be desired. Nevertheless, they do not compromise on safety but I have perceived them as rather strict. Their house...

Point and shoot options Vol. 2

Scubaboarders, I need your help again as priorities have changed a bit since my previous considerations on underwater cameras: https://scubaboard.com/community/threads/point-and-shoot-options.590233/ We will fly to the red sea in October for the first trip since COVID planning to do two dives...

Raja Ampat - Liveaboard or Land Based?

I can only echo that RA is a hassle getting to and I am not sure if it's super entertaining for your partner. If you really take the pain and go there, you should stay 2 weeks minimum. Why not go for a combo with Bali and Komodo (which comes quite close to RA) - take a nice wooded boat for 5-6...

Wonderful Indonesia - Raja Ampat, with Coralia Liveaboard

Amazing video, love your drone shots and how you incorporate life on the liveaboard (the arrival / food / cocking etc.) I would probably recommend using a red filter as it really makes the colors shine :-)

Paradise for Divers in Raja Ampat | Papua Diving | Sorido Bay Resort

Great report, thanks - in case we go back to RA, Sorido Bay will definitely be an option. Just wondering, they mention on their hp that there is no boat diving on Saturdays. Can you go to Cape Kri instead, is it really their house reef and you can just swim there, dive and swim back? Thanks

Early Sept. Komodo LOB - flight or any other advice?

I would definitely recommend 5mm, have been there in September 2018 With regards to the flight, you can fly in the morning but taking into consideration that you will not have a lot of time in Labuan Bajo and Bali is bigger and more traffic then one might think (you mention you will just have a...

    Rx100 VA wide angle

Dear Scubaboarders, I have decided to go with a Rx100 VA setup in a Fantasea Housing and I am ready to pull the trigger. Now I am struggling with the wide angle options between the UWL-400A and the Kraken/Weefine WFL02. Most important for me is that there is no vignetting or zoom-in, angle...

    CoronaVirus Dilemma

Yes, you should definetely go and don't worry too much. As Philippines is anyhow closed for flights from China, the risk is rather low. Anyhow, as a pre-caution you could take a mask for you and your daughter and wear them on the airports in Philippines. Moreover, take a hand santitizer and use...

Trip Report: Sipadan January 2020 Celebes Explorer 9

no hammerheads unfortunately, we were not praised with great visibility which I understand is normal at this time of the year... Sukau Lodge was something something between 800-900USD per person for 4D3N incl. private transfer from Semporna. We had a Villa Room, so there might be slightly...

Trip Report: Sipadan January 2020 Celebes Explorer 9

Yes there were quite a few boats every day - but when looking at the number of divers I assume that not all the permit were used (according to the guys on our boat) this might be due to the fact that many Chinese cancelled their holidays due to Corono Virus... We paid roughly 1200USD per person...
