Discussed prior to the activity with my wife and then again in front of divemaster prior to the start of the activity.

Before the dive I made an agreement to not interfere with my wife as far as me taking the lead or making decisions on her behalf although I was always close to her and that she would have an experience with the instructor/ Dm without me acting like I’m an instructor or DM which I am not.

She definitely is ! Puts up with my shenanigans 😀

Just to reiterate, on the line at ten feet when the dm left me and my two uncertified friends to take my wife back to the boat I thought it sound judgment to stay next to the two people who had no idea what they were doing.

Thank you for a detailed explanation of the standards. I am not a dive professional. I do however feel that several instances during the experience are outside of what I have read in the standards. I will look into what Padi provides.

This is a very good point and I know I should have scrubbed this from the moment I saw the conditions. I did become pretty vocal about it in the bay and was told by both dm’s that visibility outside the reef would be better. It was a bad decision and I’m grateful everyone was ok.

Good point , I was well aware of her going back to the boat as I was watching from the rope and at that point I had a decision to make and that was go back to the boat with her and watch her be sick or stay with her best friend and her husband and I decided on that. I felt that was appropriate...

I would love to know the padi standards for a discover scuba , because if the dive I described is indeed in standards I’ll be shocked.

I’m sure not every experience is the same , and hindsight is 20/20. I feel that signing up for an actual open water course is a better option.

Nice review, I’ve not done any training with Protec yet but am thinking taking a stage course. I have had Kim guide me though and it was a great experience that whole group are great people and I will definitely be back to dive with them.

just a heads up when I was in coba ruins you can not climb the pyramid anymore. I have also dove Cabo as well as playa / coz and definitely recommend playa/ coz area. Be sure to try a guided cenote dive if you’re interested
