I agree liveaboard is the way to go. Plus you should bear in mind that day trips to the Thislegorm from Sharm are dependant on demand. If not enough divers sign up, they'll cancel the trip.

Hi! Based on my experience, I don't see how you could log 5-6 consecutive Thislegorm dives unless you charter your own boat, and overnight at the site, which would be expensive. Day boats tend to offer 3 dives and then return to port. The third dive may not even be at the Thislegorm but...

For repetitive diving in March I tend to go for a 7mm Bare wetsuit with a hood. I'm a middle-aged male who doesn't feel the cold too much. I'd say I'm pretty average, in that regard. Hope this helps.

I believe the Giftun islands are a popular day or half-day trip destination from Hurghada. I've dived a couple of sites there and they were nice (Police Station springs to mind), BUT it was very busy with snorkellers. So I'm not sure if that would be your thing.

Yes, unless you are going on a short "mini-safari" that only dives in Tiran and local sites, a paid visa will be necessary. Effectively, this applies to 99% of liveaboards cruising the Egyptian Red Sea.
