Your sub looks great. I prefer a nice tropics watch, especially when it is well earned. Lots of stories behind that Rolex. I hear you about the original Doxa bracelets. I’ve had to resize mine before and it is a delicate operation. The new bracelets are well made, I just prefer the taper of the...

    Vintage Dive Watches

The 7005-8052 is a good one. Some were made for the Iranian military and have special dial and caseback markings indicating that they were issued. The Navygraf sounds nice. Surely your girlfriend won’t mind sharing from time to time!

Seiko is a great choice, and a personal favorite of mine! Here is one of mine, from 1975. I believe the previous owner used it for diving, but those days are long past.

    Vintage Dive Watches

Thanks for sharing this. Would love to see the Rolex as well. Do you wear the Doxa often? I had a sub300 reissue for a bit before my dad claimed it. He loves that watch. Yours looks great! I have seen the new bracelets as well as the original expandros, and while I prefer the vintage bracelet...

    Vintage Dive Watches

Thanks for sharing those Seiko divers. They look like 7548s. They certainly tell a story, and I think they look perfect as-is. Every dive and moment in the sun made them fade to the way that they are today. Very nice.

Thanks for sharing. The Seamaster is a great watch. I’ve never owned one personally but have read a bit about their history. Yours is developing more and more character each day. I’ve seen that model with some nice natural fading of the bezel insert, and that adds a ton of character.

    Vintage Dive Watches

I absolutely believe that. I have some old Seiko catalogs around, but from what I can recall the Tuna was one of their most expensive models. Considering this was the introduction of a quartz dive watch capable of 600m right in the middle of what was basically the worlds introduction to quartz...

    Vintage Dive Watches

That’s great to hear. I always appreciate stories of watches as that is often the most interesting aspect. The tuna was really an impressive watch from an engineering perspective and was actually first created by Seiko due to complaints from a Japanese saturation diver that Seiko Divers watches...

    Vintage Dive Watches

This is a terrific watch. One I have considered buying on multiple occasions! Colloquially known as the “Golden Tuna”. Always nice to hear from an original owner who put their watch to good use. It still looks quite good!

Oris is great, but you’re right, more affordable options out there. I would imagine a capillary depth gauge built into a watch is mostly a novelty at this point. That being said, if you just like them and don’t intend to dive with it, there are some vintage options out there for a much better...

    Vintage Dive Watches

Glad you like it. It’s actually a capillary depth gauge. These were not common on watches, but did occur from time to time. Most commonly I believe they were seen on old Squale models marketed as “Profundus”. If you look real close at 3 o’clock there is actually an opening in the crystal to...

Hello from vintage scuba enthusiast & dive watch collector

Hey, that sounds like some rough luck, but I guess that is part of the game, huh? The loss of a dive watch during a dive reminds me of this story from a while back: Found: A Divex Watch On An Indian Ocean Shipwreck - HODINKEE Wonder how many dive watches are at the bottom of the ocean?

Hello from vintage scuba enthusiast & dive watch collector

Started a thread in the vintage equipment diving section. The Seiko Turtle is a classic choice. I have one in my collection from 1979.!

    Vintage Dive Watches

Hello, I just introduced myself in the “new person” thread and was told some may be interested in some vintage Dive watches I have collected over the past few years. I have a particular interest in scuba branded watches, but appreciate dive watches of all forms! I am not sure how to post my...

Hello from vintage scuba enthusiast & dive watch collector

Thanks a lot for the welcome. I will be sure to check out those YouTube channels. I think I have been to the vintage double hose website to peruse some old catalogs in the past. I would be happy to post some photos of anyone has interest in vintage dive watches and that sort of thing.

Hello from vintage scuba enthusiast & dive watch collector

Hello Everyone, I just signed up recently. My name is Justin. I took a scuba diving course a few years ago but have yet to get the chance to actually go scuba diving in the “real world”. This course did, however, spark an interest in vintage scuba periodicals, history and dive watches. I’ve...
