How to Engage Younger People in Diving?

Shark Week may have a lot to do with it, but then there are other things, for instance subnautica. Personally I find the game to be beautiful and relaxing, but it has scared away many youth from scuba diving. Then there are movies like Jaws, which, believe it or not is still watched today, that...

How do you delete one of your own threads?

I made a thread and I want to delete it now, as some of the information in it is incorrect in regards to my divemaster. How do I do this?

    Drysuit Bouyancy Issues

No, I meant that if it was broken in some way somehow and I didn't know about it I would get flooded.

    Drysuit Bouyancy Issues

I am sorry to those that replied to this post. The information here is apparently somewhat inaccurate and incomplete. Labeling it as a fun story was inappropriate, and I am sorry to my divemaster for misquoting the things he has told me.

How to Engage Younger People in Diving?

It's fine, you don't have to. I don't do things for other people's approval.

How to Engage Younger People in Diving?

Aye. Well it is true. I'm planning on doing saturation diving so I can work on the ocean floor, it seems like quite a lot of fun. My nerdy older stepbrother, he's about 23. Scared to death of the water. Get this. The lad's *girlfriend* taught him to *doggypaddle* bout a year ago. Absolutely...

How to Engage Younger People in Diving?

Amongst us youth, Diving is actually rather prevalent. I live on the Texas coast which may influence this, but a lot of the local kids are scuba divers, albeit they tend to not be very passionate about it unfortunately. The big thing disconnecting youth from the ocean is fear. Media has a huge...

    Drysuit Bouyancy Issues

Always have and always will use it for buoyancy, I generally don't like the though of using the drysuit for buoyancy, feels somewhat unreliable and harder to dump without compromising the dryness. At the moment I rent a dry suit, as I am still collecting gear. Additionally, I have a very nice...

Need advice on crotch strap positioning

A few things in relation to the crotch strap. If the crotch strap is too tight, it can put quite a lot of pressure on your bladder, causing you to pee a lot more. The strap positioning in of itself doesn't matter a whole lot, I usually put it to the right. Back to the pressure though, if you put...

    Drysuit Bouyancy Issues

Well, by ocean we are talking about going 30 miles offshore near oil rigs, where the water is a lot deeper than my certification limit, so I need to be counted on as having good buoyancy in a dry suit, otherwise I could sink way too deep or go up too fast.

    Drysuit Bouyancy Issues

Now that you mention it I most likely am over weighted. I weigh about 170Ibs and I am 5'11. I am not obese, I focus on strength training and lean bulking, so it is mostly all muscle and bones. I use a plated BCD, aluminum tank, the big one, and I usually dive drysuit. The amount of weight I use...

    Drysuit Bouyancy Issues

Yes. I did the pool session, then I used it in a fairly shallow lake. The incident in question actually happened after my drysuit certification, during my advanced open water certification.

    DIY Knife Sheath

Ok. Will that work for kydex sheathes as well?

    Drysuit Bouyancy Issues

Haha. I understand that. Over her I usually dive deep in lakes, so water temp is usually in 60s to mid 50s. My divemaster doesn't let me dive in the ocean with a drysuit, at least not yet, but over there it will be warmer.

    DIY Knife Sheath

My question is how to make a sheath with a locking mechanism, as I am worried about my knife potentially falling out.

    Drysuit Bouyancy Issues

The reason I don't do that is because it is possible for there to be a leak, and I usually dive in colder water. Colder water can cause tiredness, and cut the dive short. I never use the drysuit in place of the BCD, my Divemaster has been very strict with that.

    Drysuit Bouyancy Issues

I do not understand why there is a debate on using the drysuit for buoyancy. From what my instructor has told me, I need to use a BCD as a drysuit won't be enough for technical diving, and I need to get as much experience as possible with technical grade equipment and use a gear setup as close...

    DIY Knife Sheath

I was wondering if y'all had any suggestions for a DIY Knife Sheath. I have a homemade dive knife, made with stainless steel. Suggestions?

What is covered in a PADI drysuit diver course?

Well, the course covers a lot of emergency drills, suit types, accessory types, the science behind it, as well as the benefits. Can't really give much advice on weighting, as it varies a lot between people, I would just do a couple of weight checks until you get it right.
