    Starting in tec.

I've been watching the lecture videos about the physiology and I love the math. I'm a IT guy so math is my friend. The trimix formula is super cool and the gas mix and depth formulas are cool but the videos do a really great job of explaining why the formulas work are why they are important.

    Starting in tec.

Thanks for the answers. This is my attempt at planning for the next few years. Probably 3-5. Obviously subject to change as experience dictates. I have a couple instructors that I'm working with. I think my big concern with twins is that I likely won't use them enough to maintain and build...

    Starting in tec.

I'm just getting started in tec. I'm literally doing my e-learning now for TDI deco procedures. I'm seeing more of a focus on twins though I prefer sidemount. Is it worth the time to go through the twins procedures even though I don't think I'll use them? My goal is wreck penetration and...

How much have you spent on training and dive equipment?

I forgot about the exposure suits, my number just went up

For divers contemplating using a long hose configuration

I though it was extremely comfortable when I did a share air exercise. It was rather relaxing and made swimming through the channel very easy. It wouldn't have mattered too much if we were popping up to be picked up or get on the boat but we were swimming back to shore through a channel and it...

    47 Meters Down

I didn't even dive when the movie came out I and I knew it was crap. When you watch movies like that you have to push the big red "I believe" button and just accept their premise. Try to enjoy the story and then you can pick it apart for fun afterwards. Or at least that's what I do.

How much have you spent on training and dive equipment?

I'm probably at around 6k-7k for just gear and training. I'm working on divemaster and then going on to instructor, and I'm getting into servicing equipment in order to reduce my long term costs. The sad part is I want to get into tech so I need to keep the flood gates open with the cash.

    Could not breathe out

I get the same thing with my xtx 50's. That diaphragm seals pretty tight when they are dry.

    New Diver in the Philippines

Welcome! I didn't discover diving until my 40's so I can understand the feeling of wasted time. Best thing to do is dive as often as you can! I'm going to the Philippines very soon. It will be my first time there so I'm hoping it's as good as all of the hype!

    Question Ever experienced Nitrogen Narcosis?

I haven't noticed any difference on any of my deeper dives. I didn't have any issue with my 40m dives. or any of the >100ft dives I've done. But everybody reacts differently and you can react differently from dive to dive. That being said, it's nothing to be afraid of, it's just something to be...

    Is dive certification really necessary?

My buoyancy was all messed up when I started diving a wetsuit. All of my dives had been warm water and my first wetsuit dive was a 7mm and I was overweighted. I don't think I got decent at diving a wetsuit until about the 4th or 5th dive with it. Based on my first dive with the wetsuit I...

    Started diving a BPW

Based on advice from you wonderful people I started diving a BPW and wow what a difference. It feels so much better. It's pushing me into the right form and it's incredibly comfortable. I like how tight it is and how well it performs. So Thank you everyone! I'm diving the basic hogatharian...

    Is dive certification really necessary?

I know someone who is certified and they've never actually had to show their card. I know they are certified because I've seen the logbook and the C-card so it's not a myth but somehow he managed to dive and get mixed in and they were never checked because they dove with someone else who was...

First Regs - AL Core Supreme vs Apex XTX 40/50 vs Apex ATX40?

Ditto on the XTX50's. I've put 15 dives on mine and the initial use was a little odd since the breathe differently from the rental regs I was using but after that I haven't had any issues. I'm thinking I may have to spend some time breathing from the octo just to give it some use. I'm very happy...

    Hi from Pittsburgh!

That sounds cool! (Other than the mon being pretty dirty, I've heard rumors of the glass manufacturer's dumping in the river in the past) Go Pens!

    Hi from Pittsburgh!

Go Steelers! And of course the Patriots suck. I did get a gopro. My wife wants to use it for her purposes too so it was worthy the purchase. I also got my hands on a used sealife micro 2.0 which looks like it will take some good pics and video. At some point I'll move past that but let's start...

    Hi from Pittsburgh!

Given the way the Pirates are playing I can't argue with that.
