    Sola 800 won't charge!

Try the sleep mode multi tap several times. Tap quickly for 5 to 10 seconds. If it doesn't work, you may have to send it in. Mine was $150 plus shipping to recondition like new. Working great since.

Nikonos or Something Else for Film?

I use a Nikon F100 in an E-Bay Sea & Sea housing. Had to buy two cheap housings and combine them. The F100 has all the modern features you find on digital, including autofocus, compensation and digital screen with settings. As a bonus, Sea & Sea strobes are still analog and the F100 shoots...

    GoPro Hero 5 & 6

A still picture taken with a GoPro and Video light won an honorable mention in this year's Monterey Shoot-Out. My wife uses a GoPro 6 after having a 3+Black. The 6 is excellent, especially in terms of low light recording quality.

    NIKONOS V underwater analogue camera.

Fuji Velvia 100 is excellent. I was buying it in 5 packs/36 roll. Developing slides has gotten pricey. It runs me about $23 a roll including high quality scans and shipping.

    Inexpensive Ball Clamp

I bought a set of kit dive carbon fiber buoyancy arms and four standard clamps. One of the arms twisted the ball out after a few dives, I had to use penetrating oil on two of the clamps after letting them sit for a week after only a few dives. Poor grade stainless. My ultralight clamps have...

Adobe Photoshop vs Elements vs Lightroom?

You should be fine as long as you don't buy a new camera. My issue was a new camera and a new laptop. I had to get the converter program for the D500 and then convert each set before installing on LR 4.4. I couldn't update my old laptop, as Adobe doesn't service Windows 7 or Windows Vista...

Adobe Photoshop vs Elements vs Lightroom?

Just invested in the CC Photo Package, as I had to update a bunch of stuff to work with my D500 and there were too many compromises with the older programs. Plus for your $20 a month you get 1TB of cloud storage and a web page to display your stuff. We'll see.

    Traveling with Sola lights

Never had a problem with Solas in my carry-on. All my camera gear goes in carry on. Housing, strobes and arms and lights in a roller, padded with socks and underwear. Camera bodies and lenses + laptop in a backpack. Wouldn't check any of it. I had all of my chargers destroyed on the way to...

    Zoom Gears

Yes, Tokina fixed mine for a very reasonable charge. I din’t know what Nikon charges.

Adobe Photoshop vs Elements vs Lightroom?

Elements is simplest and easiest to use, latest version has many improvements and greater accuracy. PS will give you the ability to do amazing things, but you need to be an expert at it. It costs a fortune and is subscription only. I use LR 90% of the time. It took a while for me to get...

    Backscatter vs Nauticam Vacuum system

I have the Nauticam system on my NA-D500 and it's been great. Just remember you have to reset with the blue button when you change lenses or ports.

    I lousy my dc1400 (sealife)

Ditto. TG-5 and housing. Someone I know went from mirrorless Oly with housing and lenses to TG-5 with housing and only using her homemade Chinese flashlight video light. Her pictures are the best I have ever seen from her. It also has "microscope"mode to take supermacro pictures with no add...

Is it okay to put the tray and handles in cabin baggage?

My carry on contains my housing, arms and strobes. My personal item is a shoulder bag or backpack with my camera, chargers, spare parts and literature. Never had a problem. Have lost many items in checked luggage and will never, ever put a camera, housing or essential related item in it.

    Vintage strobes?

I know award winning photographers who still use SB-105's with their digital cameras. I've tried cheap strobes, expensive strobes, ttl strobes, powerful strobes. I gave up on cheap strobes. I'm sometimes frustrated with my current, powerful strobes because they lack softness and control. I...

    Duel YS-D1 sync problem

If you're using optical sync with YSD-1's, make sure you have a good quality multifiber cord. Some people have reported poor flash recognition with lower quality single strand FO cords.

    Nikon 10-20mm Potential

Nikkor 10.5 has a great reputation as an underwater lens. Ikelite says best results for your D300 will be with FL8 dome and FL extension, but FL6 will work with less corner sharpness. 8" dome will also allow over/unders, but they're a pain to travel with. I like my Tokina 10-17, which takes...

Nikon 60mm in Nauticam Macro Port 87

It will certainly fit, but at full extension, it will be around an inch short of the glass, and the 60 focuses so closely that you'll lose the ability to shoot 1:1 and may have a problem with reflection from the glass. Probably work dandy with a .4 teleconverter, though. That would make it an...

WA Lens (Flat Port) Vs. Kit Lens (Semi-Dome) Vs. Better Camera (Flat Port)

None of the above. Zen Dome Port for Olympus 9-18mm wide-angle lens - NEW LOWER PRICE! Covers both lenses, gives you full coverage of 9-18 which is too wide for a flat port.

    Zoom Gears

Usually you can pull them right off. They're just held by o-ring tension. Be careful with some lenses, though, as if they're tight they can sometimes pull off the rubber adjustment ring on the lens with the gear (Tokina 10-17 for instance)
