I am doing tech training and have a ffm, would use it on dives not requiring gas switching or anything over 130fsw...after doing SDI FFM and some practice I can get the FFM off in under 3 sec, and you dont need eyes for valve shutoffs or switching regs anyway...I would put the FFM on the...
Of course anyone can go...I was just saying, when @Dody did his DM course, going by the industry standard, he would have had to work extremely hard for one week, and hats of to him because thats what he did. If you want to have faith and trust in yourself, then you better choose a LDS that...
:snorkel:The 50 hours DOES NOT include the 40 logged dives, cpr, 1st aid... Those must be met BEFORE you begin the DM course. As i wrote earlier, if @Dody claims to have completed the DM course in one week, that means he would have had to dove 7 hours per day for a week AND complete the...
Hi Ben!
I own a Zeagle 911(ranger with a few extra goodies) and unfortunately it will 100% not work for cave/tech diving. Although they can hold twin tanks, they truly aren't made for it with a horseshoe style wing, and plastic buckles, wont work (the SP either). I would get a cheap backplate...
Here :Dfrom modern PADI e-learning:
Prerequisites & Requirements
Age Requirement
18 years or older
Course Prerequisites
Rescue Diver, 40 logged dives, CPR and First Aid certification within 24 months, medical clearance to dive
Time Commitment
Approximately 50 hours
it goes by hours, about 6...
SDI/TDI : A minimum of 40 hours; a minimum of 30 hours under the direct supervision of the SDI Instructor
if each dive is one and a quarter hour, then it would be 35 dives...:p<TG>
BCD- buoyancy compensatory device - "assists" with buoyancy at "all" atms
PFD- Personal flotation device - It floats, period. depending type, in varying postures
Based on these questions, I think you should review sections of your OW manual or e-learning page. Your OW instructor should have gone over these principles a million times, before even going on a beach dive let alone a cavern <TG>
I don't dive "perfectly" weighted, and you can't because conditions are always changing, you tank is becoming lighter, your breathing will change the harder you work... i carry 2-6lbs extra depending on cylinder and suit <TG>
I think the DM screwed up more. As DM its his responsibility to plan and execute the dive safety, if you say there was no mention of cave( you saw light so it's more of a cavern) during pre-dive, then there was no way you could prepare or plan for yourself or partner. I also assume your group...
LOL, you make some good points, DRIS charges $735 for tools and they're pretty basic:
Torque Wrench
1/4" - 3/8" Adapter
Allen Key Set
3/8" Hex Key Sockets
13/16 deep socket
Pin Spanner
(2) Adjustable wrenches
Brass Picks
IP Gauge
Inline adjustment tool
Reg/vise tool
Tribolube
Stationary...
the DRIS HOG service course is $250 and parts kits go for about $20, so in the long haul i think is more reasonable than paying $30 per stage at your LDS...<TG>
I would get an off brand bp because it's just a piece of bent ss, grab a #22-35 wing, and get some webbing at your LDS to get a good fit. I don't like trim/weight pouches on a bp/w, I'd just use a belt... but the DGX looks pretty good...
He could get a twinset... it would greatly extend his BT ( at 90-120ft) and provide great redundancy..... but of course that's in the tech realm and costs much more than a pony.....
