    Question 6 hours in jakarta

That is what I am doing on my upcoming trip on the way to Sorong. But on the way home I have enough time at CGK to go into the city. Is taking the train into Jakarta a better option than taking a cab and a way to avoid the traffic?

Where To Stay in Bunaken/Bangka now that prices have gone up?

Second this. The house reef is tremendous for snorkeling, or diving, so your snorkeling friend would be entertained. You dive the same spots that Coral Eye dives. Including a drift dive if you want right in front of Coral Eye. Half the cost at 4/2023 prices, must be even less by your...

New Diver: Drift Diving Dives 5-15 & Nitrox Cert

If you hire a private DM for at least your first few days this is how it works in my experience. You go out on the morning boat. There will be another DM that goes with the divers that did not hire a private DM. They splash. You splash with your private DM who can take you on a shallower...

    Traveling on a budget

I'd start with Curacao. Easy shore diving from your Hotel, lots of sandy beach and things for the non diver to do. Look into someplace like Lions Dive Resort for a first timer. See the Curacao forum for recent discussions of new divers going there. When your experience grows try Cozumel...

BPW recommendations - Uniquely sized diver

You will end up with both a steel plate for cold water diving and an aluminum plate for warm water travel. Given how much other stuff you will buy for your own kit a $94 aluminum plate is a drop in the bucket. https://scubatoys.com/products/1862-hog-aluminum-backplate/

    Purchasing a BP/W

When you want to keep trim pockets, weight pockets and other things in place on your waist belt, cam belts, and shoulder straps use strips of mountain bike inner tube described in this thread. https://scubaboard.com/community/threads/trim-pocket-anti-slide-keeper.604723/#post-9277244

    Purchasing a BP/W

Getting a BPW is like most homeowner DIY projects. Watch a bunch of internet videos till you feel comfortable then start setting it up. The only difference is there is not multiple trips to the home supply store. There is very little bleeding or swearing like some homeowner projects also.

Error What should I have done differently? Diving incident in Cozumel.

To say the shark chaser was the DMs buddy is incorrect. You are describing a group dive led by a Cozumel guide where the only buddy pair was you and your wife. If the shark chaser wanted a real buddy he could have hired a private DM. What exactly do you think you were accomplishing by...

New Norte Today 28JAN- Thursday 01FEB

Whatever the minimum temp is for the dive is what is displayed at the conclusion of the dive along with the usual other things. Water temps by my computer have been 82* F 27.8*C consistently. I haven't seen anything below that till today. Chilly divers on the boat today.

New Norte Today 28JAN- Thursday 01FEB

One of the things that the north winds and cooler temperatures have done is lower the water temperature in Coz. My computer displays the minimum temp for the dive. Temp today second dive 78* F, 25.5* C.
