How about this for a startup idea? Develop a supplement that when ingested produces a large volume of oxygen rich gas. The gas is "captured" and stored in a back mounted system for use in breathing underwater...what do ya think? Any takers?
As far as I know contact cement by any other name is still contact cement...you can probably find it cheaper at the local hardware store...I used DAP Weldwood and it worked perfectly.
Where's the adventure in all that? More fun to imagine that the boat might not be there when you surface and you'll have to rely on your own awesomeness to survive and find a way out. Or you could just pack a sat phone in a dry bag.
Yeah I think you're right. Just received a neck seal from Jahjahwarrior in the mail...which was extremely awesome of him...it's some weird kind of material for sure. Reminds me of those sticky hands toys my kids used to throw against the windows.
Same for my mask. Found the DGX Ultraview Frameless mask. Depending on which company stamped their name on it you could spend anywhere from $35 up to $135.
Way easier to be a diver if you're certified. Not sure how you would find a buddy willing to dive with you, get on board pretty much any dive boat, or get air fills etc. (at least where I live) without a cert.
Prices seem high but maybe they are higher in Australia? I bought my D3 + Zenith reg set for around $550 USD. Love it by the way. I bought a D2 to use on my pony bottle configuration as it's more compact. The D2's are discontinued so you can buy them now for pretty cheap while they're...
I agree...I'm still a new diver but I already have to stop myself from cutting corners. I've been a rock climber for most of my life and the same principle applies. Most rock climbing accidents involve experienced climbers who just skip a vital step in their process like not double checking a...
Like most have said during the COVID thing we've seen a dramatic increase in my area in anything outdoor recreational including diving. All the dive spots have been super busy all summer and the dive charters have been booked solid on the Great Lakes.
I don't think I'm saying anything new here but I'd suggest you try to find a couple of buddies you can dive with who are more experienced than you but are willing to help you along as you learn. That's what I did and it's been the best experience for me. Now I'm starting to do the same for...
When I bought my first set of gear including my computer I was too price conscious. Now I'm starting to replace my gear piece by piece as I've gained more experience and a better understanding of what I want in my gear; and I'm still only starting out as a diver. I'm not sure how I could have...
Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. Dived on Monday in a lake that was created by mining for calcium carbonate rich clay soils for use in cement production. When I emerged after my first dive my brushed aluminum tank was noticeable discolored to a light brownish hue. I'm...
