SubSurface and the new Deep6 Excursion firmware

On OS X, yes, but it was a version I built myself against a patched version of libdivecomputer and it was a while ago. I haven't had luck building a working version since I updated to the latest version of OS X. But that's not just the Excursion, it just doesn't recognize any ble devices...

SubSurface and the new Deep6 Excursion firmware

Every once in a while I've seen that happen on mine too on OS X, or even on the old firmware with the dive story app. Turning off the Excursion and turning it back on made it show up again.

    XDeep First Stage recall

That's interesting.... The date on their website was yesterday 🤷‍♂️ This one is not about the membrane it's about a the turret screw shearing off and the entire first stage failing... But that seems like the one in December was about that too. They posted on Facebook about it yesterday.

    XDeep First Stage recall

Recall form – XDEEP Looks like another recall for a different issue this time. It sounds like they aren't going to try to fix it, just refund or replace with a CX100 (plus a voucher to use on future Xdeep stuff)

    Deep 6 Excursion questions

When you say it was "significantly different" from the Shearwater, that's surprising and unexpected. They should be very close. In testing, they lined up well with Shearwater and Garmin on a broad range of recreational dives to deep multi-gas technical dives. For the first dive on a trip, you...

New App to export dive data from the Apple Watch Ultra

It's a very minor point for everyone who isn't diving at high elevation, but I'm assuming it's hardcoded to the pressure, not necessarily the depth? At high elevation you could squeeze out a few more feet if your surface pressure was a few hundred mbars lower?

New Apple Watch is a dive computer

Well... maybe... but it seems like they could make a better guess unless the sensor itself maxes out it's reading at that point. 144 fsw is around 5400 mbars. Maybe Apple caps the sensor output to 5400 mbars for some arbitrary reason? But what doesn't make sense is that they say it continues...

Await reviews, Apple Ultra Oceanic+ and Deep 6 Excursion Tech Lite

In dive mode, hit the bottom right button (when you are under water) to bring up the extra dive pages. The middle button is the one that brings up the quick-switch gas change menu and the top button (when on the main dive page) brings up the settings. The extra dive pages you can scroll...

Await reviews, Apple Ultra Oceanic+ and Deep 6 Excursion Tech Lite

So... In older builds it did play songs, but the latest build that Landon posted links to should not. It would play "never going to give you up" (or the Tetris theme, or the Mario theme) when you hit the "up" button on land. It was put in there as a way to test the tone generation for the...

New Apple Watch is a dive computer

That's probably one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. Please explain to me how, specifically, they are going to add air integration to this device when it has no sensor to receive it?

Info Deep6 Excursion Upgrade Beta Test

This is just for the early release. I'm sure there will be an iPhone option later. I bet they'd flash it for you if you mailed it to them. If you were already shipping regs to them for service, it might be convenient to toss the computer in with them 🤷‍♂️

Replacing DUI Neopene socks with Northern Diver socks - any tips?

For the DUI suit, it had socks originally on it and they were stitched on. Cutting them off carefully was easier than removing the seams, but if I had to do it over I'd probably seam rip it all first and try to heat the seal to remove the socks to get a slightly more straight edge.

Replacing DUI Neopene socks with Northern Diver socks - any tips?

Yes. I followed those steps and got the socks glued on. I'll try to dig up some pictures later and post them. They turned out well and didn't leak at all. It used a little bit more than a small can of the drysuit glue from DRiS, I got a small can of the wood weld plastic cement for the last...

Await reviews, Apple Ultra Oceanic+ and Deep 6 Excursion Tech Lite

So... One thing that's cool about that tissue graph is that dotted vertical line - that solid vertical line to the right represents GF99 - just like with shearwater, but the vertical dotted line represents th currently active gradient factor (currently active meaning - if you are going between...

Deep6 Excursion: How do I get the Tech Lite upgrade?

If you have an android device (or a friend with an android device you can borrow for a few minutes to upgrade the firmware) they posted it publicly today. Key points: - For now, you'll have to sideload the APK (you can search up how to do this, it's not hard). - All your existing logs will...

New Apple Watch is a dive computer

I could see it being a gateway into diving. Some people get an Apple Watch Ultra, see it has a diving mode... go on vacation to their island resort and say "oh, I should get my PADI, so I can use my dive watch" - pay the $5 per day to use it... If they like it, they can quickly switch to a...
