    Egypt in August: bad idea?

I dived 3mm shorty in August at Sharm - that was plenty!

    Egypt in August: bad idea?

I did Sharm el-Sheikh a couple years back in beginning of August, it was quite hot at the surface and a bathtub in the water. But I found it manageable, significantly easier than Summer in say Montreal where you’re drenched in sweat walking around. I’d do it again!

    Key Largo for new divers

Horizon Divers, hands down. I dive with them since 2021 and always a great time - and their punch cards are a great value too.

    Carry-on

My Away carry-on works fine for all the above - with the benefit of having a hard shell (allowing to check the bag when needed). But I also use a North Face Duffel backpack, also no issues.

Question Beginner Locations to Gain Experience

Horizon Divers in Key Largo is a great place to start. Their reef dives are all pretty shallow and easy dives, definitely recommend!

    New Peregrine customer

Can’t speak to the paper manual but no risk of overcharging no, you can leave it on the dock all night without any problem.

    Any way to transfer log...

I believe your dives are still in your Peregrine. It you simply connect it to the Shearwater Cloud, it should all sync on its own. Unless you’re referring to additional information logged in DL+?

Oceanic iPhone case is now a dive computer

Then again it’s much more than just a phone. Judging someone else’s priorities without knowing their needs and/or what they will do with that device is what’s wrong. ;)

Oceanic iPhone case is now a dive computer

I can only hope this is a miscommunication between the product team and their customer arrive department. It is unimaginable they would create this product and launch it at the same time as the new iPhones without having cleared compatibility upfront.

Oceanic iPhone case is now a dive computer

The Oceanic+ depth limitation on the watch likely comes from the AWU limits. The app itself would likely work with at any depth (ish).

Oceanic iPhone case is now a dive computer

It would depend on the app/car. For instance with my Ford, starting the engine and controlling the doors (lock/unlock) are achieved through internet: need either WiFi or cell signal on the watch. The front and rear trunks can only be opened/closed when within Bluetooth range.

Oceanic iPhone case is now a dive computer

My “issue” with it isn’t its lack of polish. It’s that they’re trying too hard to be Apple. Huish is a (much) smaller company, likely more low key and approachable than Apple (that’s at least my perception of them). Nothing wrong with that at all. I would have wanted their video to reflect...

Oceanic iPhone case is now a dive computer

That video was downright annoying: it’s a poor man’s version of an Apple keynote. From the vocabulary to the tone used, the way to introduce different speakers and the visual codes for the recap slate… maybe if it was a high school project, but here, sad. Re: the product now. The same...

New Apple Watch is a dive computer

I have about 20 dives with the Ultra as a backup of my Teric: open water dives, cave dives, shallow dives, deep dives, wreck dives… works beautifully! My only “issues” with it are: - having to confirm I am “fit to dive” before jumping in the water, or it won’t start recording the dive - having...

New App to export dive data from the Apple Watch Ultra
