My dive computer shows 66 in the log... vistiflorida.com says the spring temperature is 68. Other folds diving with me were wearing more or less the same type of wetsuit, no issues. I guess if we were diving in the caves and for longer periods we would need a little more warmth.
I was able to dive at Vortex Spring with another member of the Scubaboard who was super nice and offered to film. Diving as deep as 54 ft I did not notice any issues with it. No problems venting the air out either, although I could have used the kidney valves a couple of times, but managed by...
Thanks everybody for all the information. I finally used my 3/2mm wetsuit at Vortex Spring. Water temperature was 66F, 54 feet max depth. I did 3 dives ranging from 20 min to 35 minutes each. It was comfortable, and don't think I would need a thicker suit under those conditions.
Thanks again!
I am planning to dive this kit again soon and maybe have someone record it on video. I will try to fine tune my system with time. This is just a start for sure, something to get me in the water and enable me to figure things out as I go.
Many divers gave me some feedback in this thread about my hand me down wing, so I just wanted to tell everybody how how my first test with the OMS wing along with the whole kit went yesterday at the pool, since you seem to have lots of experience and may be able to suggest other things I need...
What do you use for exposure protection for OW dives at the FL Springs? Just looking at OW diving there, not doing caves, not technical for now.
Thanks!
How was it to dive in Jaco? I was there last year but did not have a chance to go diving. May go back to that area later this year, and may plan to go diving if there are good diving spots.
Even with the blunt tone, which I do not mind, I am still excited to try it at the pool next weekend. I had it out for service for a couple of weeks already, and I was just waiting to pick it up. I will let you know how it goes. I am also curious to see how this bigger than needed wing will...
No need for helium to fly with this setup. That is why they are called "wings" ;-)
Not sure if the Air2 is staying, I may switch to a traditional octopus depending on how it breaths.
The plan currently is to get it back from service and take it to the pool to see how it goes, single tank for now. I've heard many concerns about it, but I also heard from people that have this setup that they can dive this setup with no issues. So I will have to find out for myself I guess.
Me too! Mine is used, sort if a hand-me-down deal, 94 lbs, double bladder,, with Scubapro Air2. I'm getting the system serviced and the redundant inflator replaced. Probably too big for my needs, buy I'm excited to try it too.
I live close to Lake Lanier and wanted to try a few dives there this spring/ summer. Are there good spots for recreational/ OW diving? What are the best spots for beginner level diving?
