    Teaching Dive Tables (including Nitrox)

I teach through SSI and the tables are briefly mentioned in the student online academics and the tables themselves are available through the SSI mobile app. In my OWD classes I make it a point to teach dive tables and have the students go through a couple of sample dives using the tables. In a...

Trip Report Key Largo with Rainbow Reef

We were down there this past weekend also and you're right, the water felt very warm. My computer was reading 87 degrees for the morning dive at French Reef. Some nurse sharks, definitely some larger barracuda, spotted eagle ray, and several green moray eels. Lots and lots of turtles on the...

    Found Dive Computer

While diving in Boynton Beach we found a dive computer with approximately 400 dives on it. The last dive was June 17th, 2023. If you lost a dive computer that weekend, or know somebody that did, please shoot me a message with some details about the computer. I'd love to get it back to its...

    Name that shark!

On that dive, our group saw a Lemon Shark, and someone else mentioned they may have seen a Silky Shark. It seems there were a couple of good shark sightings. :) The charter was Splashdown Divers/Loggerhead and the site was 'Beach House'.

    Custom Cue Cards

You might want to check out www.divelogs.com as they make custom slates, wet notes, log pages, etc. I placed an order with them for custom log pages and the quality was good. The only thing I didn't like about the log pages was that they put their branding on the pages. I asked them whether they...

Go Pro Hero 11 ? Any early Reviews?

The GoPro cloud service is still extremely slow at best when uploading your content. Of any possible cloud storage option, it would be my last choice. The exception being if you planned on using other subscription-only features which may utilize your media from the GoPro cloud. As someone else...

Go Pro Hero 11 ? Any early Reviews?

The newer Enduro batteries are awesome and definitely last longer. I bought them when they came out and on my GoPro 9, it was a noticeable difference. They do fit a bit snug in some GoPro battery chargers though. The physical size of the 11 is the same as the 9 and 10, so accessories will work...

Ginnie Springs closed for scuba diving

Apolgoies, I searched before posting, but after posting I saw another earlier post about this. Can't see how to delete. Mods feel free.. I'm not sure when this was initially posted but I just noticed today that the Ginnie Springs web page currently says "No scuba diving permitted until further...

One dead and one Missing at Buford Springs (FL, USA)

This is such a shame and so sad for the families involved. Buford is an absolutely beautiful place to dive, but you really need to keep a constant watch on your depth and stay within the limits of your training. It's not a place for bravado or inexperienced divers.

RV vs Conversion for family/solo dive trips

Currently we have two cars so no way to really tow anything. When doing trips alone I've just been camping, but its getting hotter and I'm getting older. That and the wife hates camping. :)

RV vs Conversion for family/solo dive trips

I'm looking for opinions or experiences on the most cost-efficient and sensible options for a vehicle that can be used for overnight dive trips. The boxes I need to tick: * Enough room to haul gear for a family of 4 recreational divers * Some way to sleep inside, even if slightly cramped...

    40 Fathoms Grotto???

Last I heard it was fully commercial.. I think the website listed a $200 fee to dive there, so perhaps if you're crazy enough to pay that much they'll make an exception.

Looking for buddy to dive at Hudson Grotto

Hope you had a good dive. Would need more advanced notice though. Oddly with all the times I've been to Hudson, I can't say I've been to the bottom. Probably because it's always been with classes or my kids who can't go that deep. It's on my to do list though.

Please recommend good Fla spots for checkout dives.

I don't think you're thinking of the right place. Blue Grotto goes down to 100 ft. Perhaps you're thinking of Devil's Den? But even there it goes down to 60 ft. Both these places are very cool and unique dives for any number of reasons, but I'll agree that a spring dive is nothing like a dive in...

    Drysuit recommendations for Florida?

If the cost isn't an issue then grab yourself a drysuit. I used to have one and would wear it to springs. I didn't need it but it was nice to have. If you're trying or need to save money then a wetsuit is what you need to look at.
