Good to know. When I took it out of the case, the back came off. I don't know if that is going to be a problem with water intrusion, but behind the back, all the internal components are covered in a thick gel substance. I'm hoping it will still work. It did power up when connected to a tank

    Hello From Michigan

For me, I have a hard time equalizing, so my descent is slow. I now breathe in, equalize, breathe out, repeat until I'm at depth. Otherwise it'll get away from me, and I have a bad time. I used to go until I felt the pressure, not discomfort, but just pressure. For me, that was waiting too long.

I've wanted to try that out. It's closer than other inland sites to me. Not sure why I haven't done it yet.

    Hello From Michigan

You must have gone with Doug from great lakes dive locker or Mike from American dive zone. Lake 16 is usually better viz when it's cold. 3' must have been fun. Caribbean is a different beast, and I'm sure you'll love it. Do you have access to a boat for diving the lakes?

Regulator service advice for a beginner

I noticed when looking for a rebuild kit for them they are hard to come by. Bummer there. Any reason they aren't supported anymore? I'm really not attached to anything or picky. I'm a big "make it work" kind of person. I just want something reliable that gets me the air I need. I need to test...

Regulator service advice for a beginner

I appreciate the words of caution. I'm pretty competent, but also not overly confident and typically ask a lot of questions to get clarity. I plan on reading up some more on the topic as it is a new area for me, but diy is not new to me. I have a boat I have done a lot of work on, I've been...

Regulator service advice for a beginner

I'm honestly not opposed to the idea of having more tools. Money is the main concern for me, so if 3 tools cost the same as 1 multi tool, I'm fine going with the 3. But if I'm going to save decent money by getting the 1, I can live with making things work. I'm pretty good at that.

I actually have all the listed regs. My wife got them all for a steal. Are you saying the first is unserviceable? The sherwood I have was connected to a mk20, so not the matching 1st.

I definitely want to get into tech. Here in Michigan there are several fantastic wrecks JUST outside recreational limits. Upright, perfectly intact 3 masted schooners and such. From what I understand though, you don't typically use greater than 40%ean for going deeper. Increases the risk of...

For the g200b, just a g250 parts kit is needed? Just looked into that tool. Definitely an expensive hunk of plastic. Crazy how much they can charge for a brand specific tool.

Thanks for the tips. I would like to get into nitrox, but I haven't done that yet and doubt I'll go above the normal amount of oxygen.

I do a lot of diy stuff with my boat and my vehicles and everything in my house. I'm one of those youtube diy guys. I have decent mechanical aptitude.

Regulator service advice for a beginner

Hi. I am new to servicing diving gear. I came across a few older regulators and want to start servicing my own gear. I have what appears to be a scubapro 109, g250hp, g200 B, D400, Polar, Sherwood 3200, U.S. Divers Micra Adjustable, and Scubamax xr2002 2nd stages and Scubapro Mk2, Mk10, Mk15...

Thanks! I was wondering about this one. Sounds like it is straightforward to service then. What is a "generic parts kit"? Just a downstream 2nd stage service joy kit? Unfortunately the lock button is corroded and unusable at the moment, so it was definitely not engaged anytime recently.

I was hoping I could use it at least as a secondary for my wife when we drive together. I need to get this stuff sorted, serviced and tested.

Yeah I noticed about the mk15. If anyone DOES have the kit, they are selling for $50+ it looks like. Is there a reason they are so hard to find for that citicards model? Ah I was hoping my wife could use one of them, she is just about to get certified this year, and we were looking for stuff...

I plan on keeping the knife...and the stuff I can /will use. Thanks for the info. It amazes me how someone can look at something that I see as so generic and know that kind of detail about it.

    Old regulator identification

Thanks for the info. I'd like to start getting into servicing my own equipment. Would these be something I could tinker with to get some experience or are they very different from current models?
