I will turn it on for my next dive. I do see it will use more battery when on... but I am not sure how much. I think as is, I get 20 hours of dive time before I need to charge. I'll turn it on and try to mark a few things in my quarry and see what I can make of it.
I have had no problems at all with mine. I did get mine at the dive shop (who matched the Amazon deal) and they also turned it on and updated the FW while I was there. The dives are great with it. I can see it as clear as anything. Also, it appears huge in my view, but not intruding my vision...
thanks guys. I always like to check out how folks are geared up. I do usually take a fold up snorkel, dive knife, and DSMB (or at least make sure someone in my group has one). I also don't have a tank banger, or anything to get attention (looking up first alert?). but I should have something...
interesting... this helps. Sounds like with the HUD (at least in my case) I don't need a wrist compass, and I also have the transmitter, so I don't need the spg (or depth gauge). I wouldn't mind having the G2 also, but after making this purchase that will need to wait till next year. How about...
Thanks for this info. I can’t wait to try it out.
Question. What else do you have gear wise. My other computer was in a boot computer, psg, and compass. With the HUD having a compass do I really need a standalone? And what about the psg? I’m just trying to figure out how other people are set up.
I wanted to follow up and mention that I did get the tanks analyzed. They show exactly what the % is on the sticker. So now I can state that I saw it with my own eyes. There fine. Next question. Once these tanks are empty. Or low. Can they be filled with air?
I got tired of thinking about it. I went to the LDS and told them all my concerns. They got one out. Turned it on, and updated it. She did confirm they had seen a small number of the HUD’s not come out of deep sleep. But she said it was rare for them. And she said (as I found out today) that the...

Galileo HUD Firmware Update
The new Galileo HUD Firmware, Version 1.5 is now available at SCUBAPRO.com
We recommend to always install the most up to date version on your SCUBAPRO dive computer...
I see they have the free transmitter offer on Amazon. Tempting. Lots of the reviews show they were not able to wake it up once they received it though. Also, some say never to let the battery die or it will go to deep sleep mode, where you need to send it in to Scubapro to have them wake it up...
Nice! Well I am still thinking about it... I just got a new shearwater peregrine. But I am getting gear for my son and thought I may give him my computer and get the HUD setup. I already have the mask. I think if I could try it out and it worked, I would get it... The shearwater peregrine is so...
Well that may have been the fastest responce I have ever gotten :) The reply is below: (now I know)
I use reading glasses as well and have no issue seeing the HUD screen. We’d recommend going to an Authorized SCUBAPRO Dealer and trying it out just to make sure.
Cordially,

@Mark Sallows not to hijack but... Do you or do you know of anyone with this dive computer (ScubaPro Galileo HUD) need reading glasses to see up close. And if so, can you read the HUD without glasses on. I have always wondered if I could go this route... I can't see test from 6-10 inches out...
bumping this question. I am no longer looking for a dive computer... but wondering if anyone has looked at this that is like me (older and needs reading glasses to see up close) If I don't have reading glasses on, everything is blurry from 10 inches or so out to close up. Just wondering...
All good folks... I am planning on driving out to my LDS today (tomorrow at the latest) to have them analyze the tanks. To be extra clear... No they did not come from a dive shop, however they did come from an instructor. He had them, I made an offer, and they just happened to be full. anyway...
Thanks! This is what I figured. But I’ll still work on getting the cert. calling the dive shop tomorrow. But at this point I’ll also see if they will analyze them. Not going to buy an analyzer though. Not unless I’m diving Nitrox more often. Right now I dive in my neighborhood. Again it’s fresh...
