Looking for Dive Buddies on Guam

Hello all on Guam! Just got to Guam not too long ago and I am looking for some dive buddies to go out diving with. I am an experienced diver and so looking forward to getting in the water once again. I will be here on the island for the next 3 years. Shore diving or boat diving doesn't matter to...

The Planning Necessary for Solo Dives

I have solo dove numerous times and it is a great experience. But I would seriously heed the cautions posted here. I did not start solo diving until I had over 300 dives and I really only dove sites that I knew and had dove with buddies on numerous occassions. I kept my dives simple, dove with a...

    Random thoughts on Moalboal

I paid in advance when I went there last year and that took care of a lot of the cash problems, plus the dive shop I went out with used paypal which also helped out too. I had some totally awesome diving while I was there and it is on my list of places to go back to!!

Recent experience with Delta Customer Service...

While I understand weather had a lot to do with this, this is the exact reason why I try not to fly any American owned airlines. I concur on the Northwest/Delta Merger. I also fly a lot and Northwest was for the most part decent to deal with decent service and lots of perks for elite mileage...

    Current strength, south shore

If you dive Blowhole, it is a nonissue unless you venture way offshore. There can be a surface current that goes toward Sandy's. But if you plan your dive well you can avoid it and if the trades are down so is the current usually. Basically if you see all white water at the entrance of the cove...

Konaquatica Faulty Equipment - not a dive experience for Beginners

Tamilgoddess sorry you had such a bad dive. It happens. If you really want to get back in the water read through your openwater manual. Would also recommend a scuba refresher class. Sit down with the instructor and go over any concerns and practice skills on land (ones that you can), then in...

How far was the tire reef from the scientific stuff? I have been to the scientific stuff and know my to where it is at. Wouldn't mind strapping on doubles and exploring the tire reef.

    Something Different.

There is Portlock, Lanai Lookout, and Blowhole on that side of the island. All have some climbing on the rocks with the best 2 (my opinion here) being Lanai Lookout and Blowhole. There is also Makapu'u but I haven't dove there, have heard the currents rip through there by the point and it is a...

    Kakaako Shore dive

Kaako and Kewalo Pipe are essentially the same site, though the skin divers stay in closer to the rocks and refer to it as Kaako. Park in the parking lot by Dominis. To the left by the harbor entrance there is a set of stairs. Go down put your fins on and swim out. Skirt the boat channel (you...

    Oahu SB'ers Unite!!!

Kewalo Pipe is another option. No beach but there is the waterfront park with grassy area and BBQ pits. For those that don't mind a bit of a shore swim they can do the pipe there and for those not into surface swims too much there is the inner reef closer to middle pavilian.

Who takes care of the locals?

Try Rainbow Divers, I usually go out with them when there is no shore diving to be had or want to do a boat dive. Good price and don't have to join a club.

Unfair Maui Rules May End Scuba Instruction! We Need Your Help

Has anyone asked PADI to help fight this? From my take on what I have read this could potentially lead to less dive classes and less divers and in the long run less of a cut for PADI. That might be enough to get PADI involved.

I took the Ski Kat from Manila to PG. It is a package deal with a bus to Batangas and then a ferry over to Sabang. It was convenient and not all that bad priced. I can't remember all the details but I did put it one of my old posts for trip report to Sabang.
