I used my 5mm suit in the Denver Aquarium for lots of dives and almost nothing holds up well there with the amount of diving you do over the years. My Bare suit looks almost as good as the day I bought it. I am a fan of their suits.
I am thinking about replacing my old 3mm with the...
If you are going in the winter....go to Coz. If you are going in the summer or fall...got to Cayman. Its rare you can get in the really good water in Cayman in the Winter. Very little north shore diving at that time of year. Cayman rocks but as much as its under rated...so does coz.
Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy them on sale when they have a close out. Regular work gloves (synthetic) They are just as good and last much longer than scuba gloves. I use them every week in the aquarium and when I travel.
while I respect our law enforcement and what they have to deal with on a daily basis.....this was horrible judgment on the officers point and should be called out. If for nothing else than horrible judgment on the situation. He needs to understand that, at least in this case, it was bad and...
Rakkis and FW -
I agree there is no way to empty a bcd of 100% air but as close as possible. I don't have to tell you guys about lung capacity and buoyancy. I also start slightly negative but I have no issues controling that with my breathing. Now with that said, I am diving a single tank...
Truth is you are right. You can survive with the 3mm Deep Sea but then again its nice to have a little heavier boot that does protect you. You don't have to go all the way to the "workboot" type but if you have ever went down to the lighthouse....you will appreciate the extra support. Also...
So what size foot are you? I have the LL fins for a size 10 foot with the older henderson Hyperstrech boots (white bottoms) but the new henderson ones (black bottoms) suck big time. The new Hendersons are a much cheaper and less hard soled than the older ones. I hate them to be blunt. Bad...
BTW: Just as a follow up for anyone that might read this later.
Henderson has ruined their design on the boots. The boots now have a black sole rather than the while tennis shoe ones they had previously. I am sure this is some kind of cost savings by Henderson. As a word of caution...
Go buy the fins and go diving more than 2x a year!! Either are good choices. I like the rubber on the Apollo's but like I said they aren't very "pretty". I agree the Atomics are hot looking. Fact is.....both are good fins and highly rated. You won't make a mistake here either way.
I know...
I have the Biofin Pro in Black. Don't make the mistake of thinking the yellow ones are stiffer. They are not. (sorry Frank) The XT version is the higher derometer (stiffer). I am also a fan of the spring strap ALOT. I didn't get the Apollo ones but bought the cheap $30 pair and switched...
Very simple to do as I see you have found out. The instructions are a bit "Asian" but you figure it out pretty fast. They do need to provide better literature with these IMHO.
Don't worry about the distilled water. You will run through filters faster but not so fast that it becomes a...
I have the Apollo Pro's and love them. All rubber material makes them extremely comfortable and the speed and how easy you go through the water is amazing. No stess on the legs at all while your are passing your friends in the water with half the effort.
Jets have their place but my place...
I am curiouse what you are paying for the trip out there if I may ask. Since most of the companies have been pushed out of business, and all of it must be booked through and LDS, the prices have went up significantly. Not enough competition anymore.
BTW: an early trip in April is dicey...
So Pete, how did the Bare Ice boots work out?
I have the Henderson Hyper's in 5mm and they fit my LL Apollos perfectly. I want to try a different boot but am concerned about the fit too. The Bare's and the SeaSofts look (in pictures) much bigger. Anyone know?
