    Thanks again, BurBunny!

Dive shop that will take a one day "cruiser"?

The reasons mentioned above pretty much summarize why I would prefer to set up my own dives. I'm a novice but have invested a lot of money/time to enjoy this sport and want to maximize those opportunities. Happy, I would be concerned about striking out on my own as well, but I just...

Dive shop that will take a one day "cruiser"?

I've been looking for a shop that will take a "cruiser". So far, I've only found a couple that will accomodate a cruiser if they reserve the boat($300-$350). I can see where this type of client is iffy but I had no problem booking a couple of dives on Grand Cayman. Thought I'd ask to see if...

What is your favorite/best Cozumel Dive Op?

I was about to post a request for shops that would accept a "cruiser" for a couple of single day dives. I've checked out most of the shops on the survey and don't see much interest. I'd like to hear from anyone with a recommendation before I start another thread. Thanks!

El Cantil questions and take-away options

Wireless came up like a champ on my MS laptop at El Cantil. Just asked the software to find the default gateway and off I went. Speed did seem to vary from 35meg to slow. I would think a Mac would do the same. I know my son uses my wireless router with his Mac, but I've been wrong before.

    Open water referral in Cozumel

I suggest Liquid Blue Divers. Also a bit pricey but fantastic personal service. I just completed AOW with them a couple of weeks ago.

Villablanca Penthouse, Casa del Mar Cabana rooms or El Cantil?

We stayed at the El Cantil a couple of weeks ago. I can't compare it to your other choices as I have no knowledge but I know my wife and I won't look any further for a place to stay. Also, they are just opening up a new tower with some one bedroom condos which should be a little cheaper if...

Removing items from the USS Oriskany (interesting dilemma)

There were 52 US submarines and over 70 British subs sunk during WW2. One out of every 4 US sub sailors died during WW2, the highest mortality rate of any branch of service. I'm not a "tree hugger" but I practice "catch and release" when I go bass fishing and I try not to harm any critters or...

CSSP Texas Swamp Divers Meet and Greet

THG- You have a buddy here! I think I set a world record sucking an HP120 dry last week in Cozumel, but hey, it only had 2900 lbs in it! Hope to make it out and meet everyone.

Any issues with Aeris Atmos Elite vs. Atmos AI?

My experience with the Elite. First one went thru two batteries before I could get in the water and was replaced by my LDS. Just got back from Cozumel and downloaded my dives. First one had all the detail and graph. Rest of them just had basic info with no graph detail. Could be something I...

    CSSP on Friday 6/30/06?

If you don't get a better offer, and don't mind putting up with a newbie, I'd sure like to join you. I think they open at 9:00.

    Why donate my Primary?

As a newbie I'm reluctant to enter into this discussion. I've spent many more hours on this forum than in the water (unfortunately) but I have hopefully absorbed knowledge that will be retained if needed. Remembering my sailor days from many years past, my goal was to reduce "danglies" and...

    CSSP Friday 6/23?

Based on Foo and S.T. responses above, I'm going to wait until Saturday to hit CSSP. My LDS is holding a "meet and greet" there this weekend so I'm going to check that out. I'm sure we'll meet up some time soon. Have a great weekend!

    CSSP Friday 6/23?

Zzz- in due time my son, in due time! Actually my day started at 6:30am shovelling a huge pile of manure on a volunteer project I'm involved with. It's just amazing how much more enjoyable a job (even shovelling sh!t) is when you're doing it because you WANT to. Everyone have a great weekend...

    CSSP Friday 6/23?

Appreciate everyone's nice comments! Let's firm up as time gets nearer. Firefyter, that's why I have to practice. I'm a month away from a week in Coz. Caution--I'm an old dude, but try to swim a mile three times a week. Retirement allows you to focus on the "important" things in...

    CSSP Friday 6/23?

Anyone need a buddy bad enough to dive with a "newbie"? My better half is visiting our son in S.A. so I'm going to try and get in a couple of days next weekend. Look forward to meeting some Swamper's soon!

    DiveRite RecWing unequal inflate problems?

I'm a newbie whose been religiously working on buoyancy and trim in the pool. I haven't even been able to get my "list" balance, that's left-right side balance for you land lubbers. Someone observing me in the water today noticed my RecWing wasn't inflating equally on both sides. I looked at...

    Buoyancy, trim AND list control

Thanks for you suggestions. As I was in phase one floating face down, my daughter came by with a friend(who dives). When I came up she said your wing isn't inflating equally on both sides. Sure enough, I took it off and it was as obvious as day. I'm going to make a post in the equipment...
