Thank you for the trip report. We have a trip planned for July and I am curious how the gear cleaning went? Did you clean gear after boat dives and again after shore diving? Could you dive the house reef and just chose not to? Thanks for the information.

Thanks for the nice comments on the report and video. Regulatrix, good luck on spotting rays or seahorse. The spotted eagle ray was cruising on calabas reef a couple of days when we were there.

My wife does not dive and enjoys Bonaire. She reads by the pool or small beach area most days. She has taken a tour of the island before and enjoyed that. Some mornings while we dive, she will make the short walk to town from the Divi. The snorkeling is good right off the dive dock.

scubaNYC16: I think Divi would be a good place for a solo diver. They have a section on the dive boat schedule for sign up of individual divers. I recall seeing a few solo divers at the resort this year.

MiloR: I’m sure our paths crossed at some point. I talked to a few divers with a group from Ohio that week. We sat by members of that group on our flights to and from Bonaire. We did get downtown to Gio’s a few times for gelato. It is a great treat anytime of the day.

Doctorfish, we saw a lot of animals on each dive. I always search for small juvenile spotted drums and baby trunk fish. Unfortunately we didn’t see any of those this trip. I guess that is a good reason to go back.

Dr. Rich, I like the house reef at Divi. We’ve seen a lot of interesting life on our dives there. The dock provides a good place to gear up. Our group is not affiliated with a dive shop and organized by Mr. Blanchard. A group of friends and former students make up the core of the group.
