    Is Worthington X8-130 too big for 5'8" @ 170lbs?

My wife, 5' 7" and under 130 lbs., dives an X8-130 frequently on deep wrecks without any trouble.

Convince me to get steel tanks

Couple of points 1. Go visit Fill Express is you are in West Palm Beach, they have all the Worthington HP tanks right there for you to look over and put your hands on. 2. HP 100's are fantastic tanks, HP 119 are also great, same height, just 8" fat. 3. Have a pair of 100s for everday...

Grand Cayman - Beach Club Colony operator?

We stayed there last year. Nice little all-inclusive place. Decent food, and all the drinks you could put down. Shore diving was very nice and unlimited. But I think you are there for their very last week of operation. Word is they were bought out for new construction as stated above, and...

    Dye Marker

I'm a big fan of the OMS dye marker tube. I have one that fits neatly into the pouch on the DAN dive signal sausage. Have a few hundred dives to 170' with it and never a leak. It is compact and would help in a day-rescue situation.

    One day free in Miami

Will add another vote for RJ Diving here in Miami. You will see plenty of life, and only have a short drive to/from the boat.

    Pony Rigging

I have about 250 dives with one of the Quickdraw brackets. You need only pull one pin and the tank swings free. Both pins are connected by a stainless cable. It is not difficult to reach back and give a tug on the connecting cable and have the tank release free to hand it off. I have done it...

    Hotel recommendations for Miami...

If you are leaving on a cruise from Miami, the Intercontinental would be your best choice. You are a one minute cab ride from the dock (you windows look down on the cruise ships), and you can walk to Bayside for shopping and restaurants. A very nice hotel, but not super cheap, although with...

    Hotel recommendations for Miami...

Entirely depends on what you want in terms of nightlife and where you will be diving out of (traffic is really brutal). If you are diving off Miami Beach (RJ Dive) then staying on the beach makes sense, more $$$ but convenient, or if you really want the crazy nightlife. If you are diving Key...

Key Largo Dive Trip and Gustav

Key Largo must be just on the edge of the winds from the storm. The marine forecast for Miami to Boca Raton looks great for the weekend through Monday/Tuesday. I assume you are flying into MIA or FLL. If Key Largo looks bad, you might consider switching to any of the fine boats and...

New Oceanic Pioneer Ultra Clear Mask

Looks like a great mask, but I could do without the big "OCEANIC" running right down the bridge of the nose. That looks like a case of marketing winning out over style.

New Oceanic Pioneer Ultra Clear Mask

I would love to see a comparison review of these new Oceanic masks with their predecessor in the market of optically-clear glass masks: the Atomic masks.

GBR and Yongala... let me take both. :) Suggestions???

Have done the liveaboard with Mike Ball, fabulous service and diving, a great operation. Would go back again anytime Also, I will offer a second recommendation for Yongala Dive. They were very friendly and professional, and they get you out to the wreck quickly for two unforgettable dives.

    Vandenberg In Political Trouble?

So the dreams of having a Spiegel Grove quality wreck in Key West are basically shot. Guess I won't have much reason to go farther south than Islamorada anytime soon. It simply amazes me how much money our government seems to throw at every worthless thing. But this small project, which would...

    Aeris Atmos AI impressions?

I own two Atmos AI and love them. The quick disconnect is a must have. I had one quick disconnect start leaking a bit, but a quick o-ring change took care of that. The key to never having leaks with the quick disconnect is to not try to disconnect them while under pressure. Bleed off the...
