    Vieques 2024

Hello All, I'm going to be on Vieques for a week and I'm planning to dive a few days there for the first time. Curious what the diving is like. Avg depth, vis, length of dives, topo. Any suggestions are welcome. My internet searches bring up two dive operators: Isla Nena and Black Beards...

    Cozumel Restaurant List

First, Billy's isn't a smoke house, its delicious grilled food! Second, everyone has a different comfort level when eating out in foreign countries. Many need it just like home to feel good about it. I wouldn't judge a place by how nice their display cases are. As a 30 year restaurant owner...

    Cozumel in early September ?

You can loose dives any month of the year. We lost a day of diving two weeks ago because of strong south winds. I think the fall is a great time of year to visit Coz. I've been in Sept, Oct and November several times. The weather has been great and less crowds as previously mentioned.

    Food Allergies in Cozumel

Just got back from a week there and we dined out ever day. None of us had food allergies, so we didn’t test their allergen sensitivities. The only place that asked in advance to our ordering was Buccanos. I would bet that many of the finer dining establishments have encountered it with their...

I’m in the Ann Arbor area. Yes I dive in MI when I can. Great diving in the Great Lakes! Glad you liked the pics!

    Cozumel Restaurant List

Couple more meal pics for this restaurant thread and I’ll stop. Been a lot of fun diving and dining! Grilled octopus from Casa Cozumel, pork shank from Guidos and mixed ceviche from Perlita.

    Cozumel Restaurant List

Grabbed a great bbq lunch at Billy’s Asadero on 65th. More than enough food for four, $35. Pork chops, chicken, ribs, chorizo, shishkabab skewers, grilled onion, backed potato, rice, tortillas and home made salsa (in a bag). Must have weighed around five pounds! They have a few tables there...

    Cozumel Restaurant List

I admit to not knowing anything about the inception of Rasta’s nor the construction of the original airport runways. However, I did have a great tropical fish dish at La Choza on Saturday and some fantastic tacos at Otates last night.

Trip Report El cantil and Aldora

Check out Park Royal. It's an AI, but has good breakfasts and lunches. Lots of things for your son to do and a short inexpensive cab ride to town for dinners if you don't like the hotel fair. Any rooms above the 5th floor have great ocean views.

DC that pick-up at El Cantil

Both Bottom Time Divers and Living Underwater have picked me up there and both do surface intervals at beach clubs. BTD uses aluminum tanks and LU uses steel. Both are smaller ops. I'd think that the aluminum tanks would be better for your son though.

Everyone was responsible for their gear the entire time. As it should be in my opinion.

Trip Report Key Largo Trip Report

We rented a VRBO on Largo. We didn’t do any afternoon dives as the other half of the family doesn’t dive. They had a few afternoon divers each day, but most did not. Given the depths of the morning divs, NDL wouldn’t have been an issue for any afternoon divers. We did dive the SG as well.

Trip Report Key Largo Trip Report

We took the family down for a last minute vacation to the Keys for a week’s vacation before our kids head back to college. My son and I dove four days with Rainbow Reef. The weather was excellent with flat water, air and water temps in the mid 80s. Vis averaged around 60 feet and very little...

    Covid testing in Cozumel

So what happens if your test comes back positive near the end of your vacation? Are you free to make your own accommodations for your extended stay or does the local government have a plan to isolate those people for 5-10 days? Sorry If this has been already discussed, this is a long thread.

Question Advice for group of new divers - seeking convenience

If I was going down with one or two other couples I would look at a two or three bedroom condo at El Cantil condos. They are on edge of downtown and across the street from a grocery store. They are not cheap, but affordable if splitting it up two or three ways. Great place and location imo...

The cruise ships are back !

The Salt Pier in Bonaire is another great pier dive that is usually open to divers. Somewhat disorienting the way in spreads out in a couple of directions. Lots of great aquatic life, schools of tarpon and a mini bait ball come to mind.

Switching hotels and what part of island

I liked it. It was newly remodeled back then, they took it down to the base structure. Everything was very well done. Took my family back there the following year. I liked the convenience of having nice onsite meals for breakfast and lunch and then going to town for diner and sight seeing...

Switching hotels and what part of island

One trip, a while back, I switched hotels mid week. It was a guys dive trip that the other two guys had to leave three days earlier than me. The three of us stayed at the Barracuda and after they left I moved over to what was then the Park Royal. It was nice to have two different experiences...
