Using manual mode will give you much better results because you have both the aperture and shutter speed that you can use to get the exposure and effects right.. With a 1/60, there are going to be several shots that will be hard to get except for wide angle and even then if you want to capture...

And where did you hear this? I have only heard speculation.. but nothing from Sea & Sea and if it was Feb 09, I would think it would have been announced by now.

So it sounds like you are using the strobes in "Manual" mode with the 110a being synced to the camera via a hard wire and the YS90 is being synced with just the slave sensor. You could (and I would) use the Sea & Sea Y-Sync cable and do both of them that way. It would be much more reliable...

Okay.. maybe I am not getting what you are saying.. The MDX-300 has two bulkheads on it (one for TTL and one for sync only). Are you using the TTL bulkhead or the other one? Why not just fire them both from cable by using the Sea & Sea Y-sync cable? Maybe more information about what you have...

Well.. a 18-70 is not bad for a light lens and it gives you some zooming. Its pretty inexpensive, or for a bit more you could go with the 18-200mm but the lens is a bit heavier also. The 18-200 is a good all around lens though for most situations. There are of course more expensive better...

I would go with the 60mm AF-S macro lens. Fast focus, you can do 1:1 shots as well as fish portraits. The port for it will be pretty inexpensive also so would be a good first lens.

The problem is because the YS-110 and YS-110a are designed to be used with a fiber optic sync cord more so than just reflected light. They have their sensor deeper in there to allow for the fiber to be "Plugged in" where the YS-90 has the sensor out near the surface of the strobe and the fiber...
