Help needed with Nikonos Close Up Kit lens settings

As much as I like my Nikonos close-up kit, I haven't used it in a while; and now that I am in Yap without the instructions, I can't remember the proper lens setting  I also have the extension tubes set, fortunately with the instructions leaflet: the lens has to be set to f22 and...

One vs. two o-rings in light head?

I googled "x-ring" and that's not it: it's two single o-rings, about 1.5 mm thick and 50-60 mm diameter, one on top of each other. Unless I hear otherwise from Pelican (new design? mistake?) I think I'll return it.

One vs. two o-rings in light head?

This may seem like an odd question, but has anyone seen / used lights that have two thin o-rings instead of one large one, in the same groove, in a screw-in light head? I sent in a Pelican Nemo 4C for servicing (bulb/circuitry problem), and got it back no questions asked. However, while the...

    Certification in Belize

Just saw your post as I was thinking of how nice it would be to go back to Belize:palmtree:: My wife and I did our certification dives with Amigos, and have dove with them every time we return to San Pedro... so I can't really compare with other dive ops, but they were very pro and helpful...

    Lady Elliot or Heron Island?

Stayed at Heron Island in 2003 (before I discovered diving), and as others have said it's very relaxing, cabins were confortable, and the food was awesome. We were there right during turtle nesting season, so every day we saw plenty of adult turtles (largest I've ever seen anywhere), as well as...

USB connection for Mares dive computers

Well, I ended up returning the IRIS. It was just too much trouble, even for two very computer-literate professionals. I truly believe that the one download session we managed (after 20 tries) was a matter of luck, correctly aligned stars, or something like that. Speaking of twenty tries: my...

USB connection for Mares dive computers

I recently purchased a USB IRIS interface for my wife's Nemo, and after hours of frustrating teamwork, neither my wife or I have managed to download anything. At first, all we got was the "Error downloading" message. We reinstalled the software, and then got as far as the download command...

How do I use a Nikonos 80mm macro?

The Nikonos close-up kit has a frame for the 80 mm: it's about 7 or 8 cm wide, and has a tiny depth of field. For really macro stuff, Nikon and Helix Camera also make extension tubes for the 28 and 35 mm that have better depth of field, even at 1:2.75, than you'd get with the 80 mm.

Absolutely awesome pictures! My wife and I went last March for Fish N'Fins' Shark Week and throroughly loved it. Would go back anytime. (My trip report and pics were unfortunately deleted in the SB server move -- I guess I should re-post, eh?) While we were there, we heard about someone...
