Just got a boat! I need details of S.E. FL Moorings (locations/GPS/etc)

My bad Val. I was talking about Broward, the current definitely picks up the farther north you get.

With all due respect, your book is wrong. I dive "on the hook" quite often Val.

Please take this excellent advice. The current on the reef in SoFlo can kick your butt!

    Tragic Story

Did anyone else see this? A guy drowns trying to "save" two people who he thought were drowning, but were actually just loaded. Remember the rescue diver rule: personal safety first. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/broward/hollywood/fl-dania-beach-drowning-update-20100628,0,1550961.story

The continuing sagas of the Blue Heron Bridge

As Matt stated, 5pm is no good. You really have to dive the BHB on slack high tide. It's not so much about viz, as it is about current, which rips through there.

    FL Fishing License questions (TIA).

Dennis' post was more accurate than mine. If your vessel operator has a guide/charter license, you would be covered. In my experience, most dive ops do not. The captain/crew may have their own personal licenses, but that would not cover you. They need a license specifically for the purpose...

    FL Fishing License questions (TIA).

Skeeter, The answer to your question is "yes", you need a FL saltwater fishing license for ANY hunting activities, including lionfish.

It's not the size of the tickle stick...it's how you tickle the spot. I don't know, there's something witty in there somewhere.

Zaixon, Did you figure out which boat you are on Saturday AM for sure? I'm looking to dive that morning, as are some other SB folks. I maybe up for a dive Monday AM (a lot depends on if my neighbor is having his annual 4th of July party on Sunday) :beerchug:

    lobster/Key West

T2, OrlandoEric deserves credit for the cool lobster walking video. I, however, will take credit for pointing out that there is no season, size limit, or bag limit on lionfish or tar balls.

For anyone who bought a state park annual pass to dive...

No surprise. The state came up almost $3bb short on the budget this year. They have to make cuts/earn revenue from somewhere.
