Scuba Bunny thanks for the reply and info. I'm still undecide about what to get or even what I need. Most of my diving is whit the fire department and is fairly shallow work <60 fsw usally black. I hope to get some more responces as its a lot of money, and I don't even have a computer yet to...

    Cochran Commander

Has anybody used the Cochran Commander dive computer? I'm planning to go to Truk Lagoon in 2yrs and I want something to back stop my table calculations. I like the no lock out, planned decompression, and the ability to use two gases on the same dive. How ever the $1000.00 price and with the...

    maximum lung pressure

Hay DocDeco: I don't know if Ages or I understand correctly. I've dove in water with much more than 3' waves doing the inhale-pause-exhale thing and I've never noticed any problem. if Ages is implying that your only a few feet down when the surge goes over thten the surge will lift you up and...

Replace second stage Viper Tec with...?

Hay dmentia: I'm thinking apout buying the Viper tec rig. Would you be more explicit about your dislikes? This purchase is a lot of money for me and I've not seen any other comments about it out there. Thanks 50sdiver

    Atomic v. Apeks v. Mares

Benwood: I haven't dove with any of the reg you mentioned, but I can help with the stiff hose problem. Do a mod on what the cave divers do, and put a long (5ft) hose on the primary and run the hose down your right side, under your arm, and back up to your mouth. the mod is to put a swivel at...

    DEATHS IN FLORIDA

Hay Eric: Where can I get a copy of that NSS tape you mentioned? I dove the Bonne Terre mines when they were first opened, and I think that tape would be interesting. This is for those of you out there who are instructors. Please understand that I'm NOT trying to flame any one, but when I...

Can someone clarify this for me, please? Any Recommendations?

Hay Jnethery: I don't have a computer yet! I am looking to buy one. No one has mentioned my reasioning yet, but I think you should get one that is very - eazy to understand and yet gives you all the information you need, because if you go deep and stay awile, you start to get a bit of nitrogen...

    Gear order of purchase???

Dstang65 Thought I'd put in my .02 for a reg have you thought about a Conshelf 14? I've used the 12 for many yrs (about 24/5) and it still breathes just fine. I've been told that their not new or fancy or anything like that, but the price should be low and might do just fine for you. 50's...

    Dacor reg

Thanks for the input it gives me something to think about. Before I changed the routing and put the hose under my arm I did catch it on a prop or two, and a couple of times on things sticking down under a floating dock. Some of the jobs(?) that I've done require sliding down a line tied around...

    Dacor reg

Hay JonT: Thanks for the info I didn't know about the different construction stuff. Having the hoses routed down and under your arm isn't just for going into small holes, but it helps with entanglement and current flutter, which makes it easier on your jaw.

    Dacor reg

Thanks for the info, Guys it helps. Don, you said that the HUB rig isn't for any one who does commerical work. Why? It looks like a good idea having all the hoses out of the way, nothing to tangle, nothing out there for current to tug on. I always have used a 90' swivel on the regulator and...

    Dacor reg

I'm new to Scuba Board, so please bare with me. I'v been diving since the late 60's and have always used a US Divers Conshelf 12 reg. It breathed good , didn't free flow, worked good under ice, ect. How ever it was stolen and the dive shop wants to sell me a Dacor Viper TEC/HUB rig as the...
