    Dacor Regulator Service

Well past it's prime. Serviceable parts hard to come across. No longer welcome at many places. Suggest you finally retire it for good. Sorry, I couldn't stop myself. Even more sorry that when Mares bought them out, they decided not to support them. Hope someone on the board knows where...

    Aqualung Comfo-Bite - too large?

My primary regs are a pair of Atomic M-1s, and I like their mouth pieces. My back-up rec reg set is a US Divers, a old cousin to the modern Aqualung Titan. It came with a comfo-bite and it's OK, I just prefer the Atomic. If and when it tears, I'll put a Atomic mouth piece on it. I rarely use...

tech fins for foot heavy people???

I use the Dive Rite fins, and frankly, I like them. The are not as strong (or heavy) as jets or turtles, but they are much lighter. I've never dove the OMS slipstreams, but from what I've read and heard from some who do, they split the difference between weight and power from the above mentioned...

    Shears that don't rust?

Most of my dives are in salt water and I carry multiple cutting tools. I try to wash and dry all my stuff but even with silicone lube, my trauma shears show some rust at the hinge rivet. Previous posters have replaced this with a stainless steel bolt/nut for increased service life. Keep in mind...

what is the best 5mm wetsuit for warmth and comfort

I don't own any Henderson H2s, so I can't offer a true head to head comparison, but my Pinnacle 3mm seal jumpsuit is way warmer than my Henderson Titanium Hyperstretch 3mm farmer john. The Hyperstretch is easier to put on but does allow more water flow through it so I chill easier. I also have...

    Best way to...

Hey Fred I too have had a insta-buddy evaporate when hitting the water. I also dive a Balance. This is what I've done to increase my chances of coming back if I don't have any of my usual dive buddies with me. Like Grumpy, I have a H2O Odyssey. His is set up for mounting on his main tank. I...

    Suunto and Mares computers

I use a Mares Nemo as a back up/standalone. It is far more conservative than my Aeris Elite. I had a Suunto Cobra that I passed down to my daughter. It remains as the only dive computer I've ever had repeated problems with. I don't recall comparing the two against one another. She now uses the...

    Best types of Spear Guns

Very few spearos end up with the gun they began with. A 63" Wong is a great open water gun, a superb choice when hunting big fish in that particular enviornment. Not my first choice when hunting 18" snapper down in culverts and limestone ledges. As recommended by many posters before me...

I narrowed down and got confused...

If yes, I would go with HOG or Dive Rite since both sell repair kits on their respective web sites and both are quality regs. If not, what does your local dive shop sell? Thal made a valid point about Scuba Pro and Atomic being "very proud" of their products, as expressed in their pricing...

How to select a gauge console?

What are some of the options you want? Have you looked at any at you local dive shop? Have you tried Scubatoys or Leisure Pro yet? Most come in mini or standard sizes from a number of different companies. Help us with more info so we can point you in the right direction.

Which wrist/arm to wear dive computer ?

Left arm, closest to elbow-slate held by bungee cords. Left arm, closest to wrist-compass-SK7 compass held in DSS bungee mount. Right arm, closest to elbow-primary computer held in DSS bungee mount. Right arm, closest to wrist-back up computer. Have tried different ways, this works best for...

Thinking about taking up golf ball diving.

Pros 1. Love diving in zero visibility, might even qualify for new "touch diving" c-card. 2. Alligators, water snakes and turtles are over-rated anyway. 3. Almost nobody throws stuff like barbed wire in ponds any more. 4. Chemical and bio waste runoffs are actually good...

    Fatigue and nitrox

I feel less fatigued. I feel warmer. If it's all in my head, well, at least something is in there after all. But it would be nice to have a study or two confirm the same results. Oh well.

    Miflex or Standard Hoses?

At this point, I only dive a single tank. I use a five foot on my primary and a 22" bungee on my octo. I have a pair of Atomic M-1s. RJP previously stated a concern with hi pressure miflex hoses I hadn't thought of at the time I switched over but does need to be considered. It's so thin that...

XS Scuba Cargo Snorkel- BP/W users where do you stow it?

I carry a Oceanic fold up snorkel, ends fold to middle, held together with a piece of bike inner tube and secured to ring inside of x-shorts with a double ender.

Going to buy a Kaila today--should there be an intervention?

Are you planning to buy from your local dive shop? If so, do they have any in their rental fleet? If not, any dive buddys that would let you try theirs? If buying online, can you return/exchange after test dive?

Transmitter Life Span (Do they have one?)

I've used a Aeris Elite for almost five years now. No problems so far. Bought mine new from LDS. As stated previously, change the batteries out, one on the receiver, one on the transmitter every year, change out o-rings too.

    AOW curriculum/value??

I've been diving for close to six years now, cross trained from NAUI, PADI, and SSI. Logged 223 dives in varying conditions. Hold a master diver c-card.(no big deal) Helped out a buddy, whose son was part of a sea scout group getting their open water certifications. I was just another pair of...

Please help me find what I am looking for

I recall receiving a catalog from Divers Direct that either offered them for sale or had models wearing them. They have a web site. I always stop at their Key Largo location when I dive there. Good luck.
