    Mo2vation Boat dives for 2006

Christian, thanks again for arranging these trips. I haven't posted in a long time and this one will be short. 1. The Truth Aquatics boats are great but they are way out of the way for most of us. Why drive all the way to SB for a day boat to the NCI when the same can be achieved out of...

    Wrinkles September Dive Catalina 9-18

Yeah, change of plan, teaching. But the beer was good :) Conditions improved substantially on Sunday. But the wind kept picking up and made for a helluva ride back to the mainland. Sorry I didn't see more of you.

    Diving during Catalina Jazz Festival?

Actually, it makes for really nice surface intervals, as the Casino is not exactly soundproof.

a list of LA County boats with Nitrox?

I was told that a membrane with compressor was about 25K. At $8 a fill, that's 3,125 fills. Since most O2 junkies will do all of their 3 or 4 dives with EAN, that's about 1041 divers needed to recoup the investment. Obviously, this doesn't include the extra fuel cost to run the membrane or...

a list of LA County boats with Nitrox?

The Psalty and Second Stage both have clean air compatible with partial pressure blending and O2 clean tanks. I'm not sure they offer EAN unless they're chartered by SSA, though. The Pac Star does on all trips. So does the Sand $ (but don't expect high pressure there). If you're in LA and...

    Surf's UP !!!

I crossed the SP Channel this afternoon. While there's definitely a swell from the South going on, it was nowhere near 8 ft. 4, maybe 5 ft, max., about 1 minute + apart. SoCal's good. Now, LoCal is another story...

    Wrinkles September Dive Catalina 9-18

Me, and a few others. If I want to share a bathroom or a bed room with 6 other fellows, I go on a multi day dive boat trip. I'll get a lot more diving for about the same amount of $$. And considering the night life in Avalon, a TV is a required amenity as far as I am concerned. How much is a...

Hollywood Divers and Reef Seekers both sell Halcyon stuff. HD has also Dive Rite, OMS and Oxycheq.

New tank for nitrox, air first.

So, all your regs are O2 clean for use with EAN<40%? If we were to follow this logic, we'd have to O2 clean our tanks each time we get an EAN fill made with any method other than PP (as hyper air is usually only available in connection with a PP fill). Along the same line, I know a few...

New tank for nitrox, air first.

And if no cleaning is necessary, you probably don't need a tank dedicated to nitrox...So, as Larry pointed out, you first need to find out where you're most likely to get your EAN from, then get an O2 clean tank or not, depending.

The stairs at Casino Point (griping and venting thread)

Well, now that I am an instructor, I'm going to have a hard time blaming students creating the line. Actually, my groups have been pretty good at getting in and out of the water quickly. The problem is at low tide; two extra steps at the bottom would do wonder. In the meantime, most of the...
