Looking for input on 2nd stage + octo to pair with MK17 for ~45F water

Thanks for all the thoughtful replies, guys. This is a lot to think about... analysis paralysis! @stuartv, great detailed post, thanks. I guess I could get kits for the Dive Rites, but then I have to find a tech that is willing to do it that way... and if other parts were needed during...

Fire on dive boat Conception in CA

I have some R/C toys and the use of such bags is ubiquitous. I would not call them explosion-proof, but they definitely provide a fire barrier. I always use one. R/C people also beat up their batteries... fast and deep discharges. Possibly too deep, if you aren't careful. Much of this gear is...

Looking for input on 2nd stage + octo to pair with MK17 for ~45F water

I know, the benefit of switching manufacturers would be not having to do it by mail.

Looking for input on 2nd stage + octo to pair with MK17 for ~45F water

I live in the Seattle area. There are a few dive shops who do reg service with their own techs, and the ones I contacted no longer do Dive Rite. There's one semi-local tech who was always the fall-back guy for shops who needed an assist with unusual stuff, and he no longer does Dive Rite either...

Looking for input on 2nd stage + octo to pair with MK17 for ~45F water

Thanks @207diver ! The G260 seems to be a pretty safe bet. The S600 is interesting as it is a little smaller, and I do travel sometimes... but most of my use would be in cold home waters so the travel factor isn't too important.

Looking for input on 2nd stage + octo to pair with MK17 for ~45F water

Not being able to get any service at all without a lengthy delay is the primary consideration in the switch. Cost is secondary. I did the math too. When I figure out what I might be switching to, I will consider all the costs and factors and make a decision. That still might be keeping the Dive...

Looking for input on 2nd stage + octo to pair with MK17 for ~45F water

Right now I am considering a garden hose with "Scurba pro" written on it.

Looking for input on 2nd stage + octo to pair with MK17 for ~45F water

I'm not interested in rentals, that is a different set of problems that I don't want either. If I am switching from Dive Rite, keeping one of them as a backup reg isn't gonna happen - I can't get them serviced locally, and I am not going to service them myself. That is why I am trying to...

Looking for input on 2nd stage + octo to pair with MK17 for ~45F water

I have a lot of hobbies which are loaded with fiddly procedures and special tools. In this one thing, I just want to throw some money at it and be done. I barely find time to dive, if I have to learn to service my own gear too that is another speed bump between me and the water. Normally I am...

Looking for input on 2nd stage + octo to pair with MK17 for ~45F water

Thanks Bob, food for thought. The G260 is a 250 variant, right? They don't even seem to sell the 250 any more.

Looking for input on 2nd stage + octo to pair with MK17 for ~45F water

While I am happy with my current Dive Rite setup, I can no longer get Dive Rite serviced locally. I would have to mail my regs away, and the remote service shops cost more than the locals, plus the shipping delay and expense. Keeping my Dive Rites is an option but since they are due for...

Looking for input on 2nd stage + octo to pair with MK17 for ~45F water

I dive in the Pacific Northwest where the water temperature can get into the low 40s. I am leaning towards a Scubapro MK17 Evo first stage, but I am suffering analysis paralysis on the second stages. I need to pick a primary (S600? G260??) and then something else which can be cheaper and less...

Anyone using a ScubaPro Mk 17 and a Galileo Sol/Luna/Smart Tec transmitter? Fit question.

Thanks much for the info @shurite7 and that picture @marcin.a ! From eyeballing the reg on a shelf I was sure it wouldn't fit. Glad to see I was wrong. This saves me a bit of hassle.

Anyone using a ScubaPro Mk 17 and a Galileo Sol/Luna/Smart Tec transmitter? Fit question.

If I want that reg, looks like I will have to use a short hose for the transmitter. Not what I am used to, not the end of the world.

Anyone using a ScubaPro Mk 17 and a Galileo Sol/Luna/Smart Tec transmitter? Fit question.

This is the Mk 17 Evo, but I think the Evo doesn't matter for this... So this is different than yours? I can always use a short HP hose I guess, just trying to figure out what to do! Thanks!

Anyone using a ScubaPro Mk 17 and a Galileo Sol/Luna/Smart Tec transmitter? Fit question.

I'm considering getting a Mk 17 reg for cold water use, but I use a vintage Galileo Sol computer, which has the big honkin' transmitter pictured below. When I looked at the Mk 17 in a shop, it was so small that it looked like the transmitter would block both LP ports on that side. This is an...

Does anyone stock the belt pouch for the Morph canister?

Thanks Jim, now I know I can stop looking for the lazy solution. :) I'll just rig something with scrap webbing and hose clamps. If it was good enough for my Salvo, it'll do on the lighter Morph can.

Does anyone stock the belt pouch for the Morph canister?

I forgot to get one when I ordered the light, and now DRIS doesn't show them as a catalog item any more. Any US retailers carrying these? I did some Googling but struck out.

Weird, I went back to the page and this time it's working. Temporary problem with the Play page, I guess.

What Android devices is this for? It refuses to install on my Nexus 7, the Play Store says it is incompatible.
