    Using SMB For Backup Flotation

So if you are diving the standard Rec setup with a 40" octo... That will reach.

    Safety Stops and Overhead Environments

Should an OW diver do a swim through? of course not. the scuba police will get you ;) Now then I assume that it is the typical 5-30 foot swim through, and since you are from MI you have dove in the quarries, and have swam through the school buses and such. I see no difference (except for...

Pony vs. Doubles -- Philosophical Difference?

Micklock, Please tell me that is not your rig.... If it is, at the very least you really should switch the tanks around so that the valve handles are on the out side where you could reach them...

    Using SMB For Backup Flotation

ok First I will + what ever we are up to on not using your DSMB for floatation. you cannot control it so go ahead and just attach it to your line and shoot it up. the SHTF flotation device is your lift bag. it need to have a top dump and a string down to the bottom. As to it's use. go...

Which do you prefer-Lantern or pistol grip? Why?

Neither. I have the pistol grip UK.... it gets tireing after awhile. Get a can light with a goodman handle. you will forget its there, and they are all brighter.

Pony vs. Doubles -- Philosophical Difference?

IT is the Same thing, just called differently depending on how you use it: Pony / Buddy Bottle == Only for use in an emergence. Stage /Deco Bottle == You plan on using it during a normal part of your dive.

Pony vs. Doubles -- Philosophical Difference?

I personally think Doubles are more comfortable under water, (of course they are a pain out of the water.) and I will take my AL40 when diving Doubles and when diving singles. I know I Shouldn't, but I'll feed the troll... That guy, in the video, is an obvious tool. #1 You never will be...

    Nitrox - 1.40 or 1.60 PO2?

Again... I know the Risks and I know what I will do in the situations, as needed. but I also know what I will recommend. it is that same as saying that If you don't know what 60 at 60 is, then you should not be pushing it. yes you can push your PO2 for a few minutes, depending on your level...

    Nitrox - 1.40 or 1.60 PO2?

I have a VR-3 on my arm. a 40 of 50% O2 on my left side. My best friend and most trusted dive buddy, was a Commercial diver with dives over 500ft, and over 4000 logged dives in his commercial log books which stopped 13 years ago. I Know the risks... I know what they teach... I know my Real...

    Nitrox - 1.40 or 1.60 PO2?

Papa can say all he likes. after talking with many Tec divers, and with talking to Commercial divers, that have held there friends in there arms while Ox-Tox'ing. I know that I will never exceed 1.6 at rest and 1.4 while working. you can push the limits if you are in a full face mask and with...

    Nitrox - 1.40 or 1.60 PO2?

1.6 is only safe for being at rest as in a Deco hang or a saftey stop. if you are active, ( as in swiming,) keep your PO2 at or below 1.4. On the bright side, If you Ox-Tox, you will never know what happened. ...as in you pass out and drown without knowing it.

Ditchable weights...are they needed and is there a minimum?

Of course I think Neither is the case... She just made the mistake of using Faber's in stead of PST tanks ;)

Ditchable weights...are they needed and is there a minimum?

Jim are ya married? Because a woman will take that two ways... 1. she actually needs the weight because she is fat. 2. She is skinny but unskilled so needs the extra weight.... Tip: when it comes to women and there weight whether weight belt or other.... keep thy trap shut ;)

    Pros to non-blue water diving?

Well it depends. WE have a saying up here. Once you are comfortable diving the quarries here in all of their conditions, from 40ft viz to 2ft viz, and temps from 80 degs plus to mid 30's, all on the same dive. that 90ft Drift dive in 80-100ft viz will seem like a cake walk. In other words...

    Slowly piecing together doubles?

OK, if you are 6' 2-3" like myself, then No do not double up the 72's as you will not be happy with the trim. for guys our height you will be very happy with PST LP104's. As Singles they are good, but once you double them up and get the bands adjusted right, you will not need any additional...

    BP/W for OW Student

Beano, I really don't know where you are getting your info from, but you are wrong. the reason that you "overweight" OW students, has nothing to do with planting them on the bottom. The reason is quite simple, it is to get them under water. New students and rusty divers, tend to not relax...

    Aspirin and Diving

First off I agree with you. However I must correct you about the bleeding part. My Main Dive buddy and close friend was a Commercial diver. after a a 300+ dive gone bad, ( thought he lost one if his men and went looking for him and sent the bell up.) He hit the surface and was foaming blood...
