    January anyone?

Budababe & I will be there the 10th-18th. Staying at our place, Casa Consuela. Hope to get in some diving, but it's been two years since I've been to the island & don't know how much of the time will end up being spent working.

    Bike question

For inexpensive(relatively speaking for Cozumel) you could look at Elektra, Mega & of course Sam's. There is a bike shop on 30th close to Pemex. I got fed up trying to find an affordable aluminum framed bike there & ended up buying a couple from Walmart & bringing them down on the plane...not...

    Beaches?? Beach clubs??

I agree with Judy on Palancar....it is one of our favorites. No admission & have never been pressured to buy drinks(we usually do though) Food is pretty good there also & not ridiculously priced. It doesn't get a lot of kids because it doesn't have the "toys" some of the other beach clubs...

Tips and tricks to having a car, downtown parking, rules of the road, etc...

Having bought our place down there a couple of years ago, I am finally becoming fairly comfortable driving around San Miguel. It's actually a simple grid system, but no matter how comfortable you are, never trust a stop sign or lack of a sign. Avenues are the North - South streets. Your major...

    Bag Drag Thoughts and Tips?

One other option if two variables fit. If you plan on renting a car in Cozumel and your flight arrives in Cancun early enough, you can rent a car in Cancun & take the car ferry out of Calica. It's actually a fairly pleasant journey & most times during the year they run a 350 Peso special each...

New to the board- Hi Everyone-Love the board! Need car rental advice please.

We have been renting from Thrifty for the past couple of years. You can book online, but can't prepay. In the summer, you can usually book a Nissan Tilda( US Versa) automatic for about $15/day. However, full insurance with $0 deductible will run $35-$40/day. You can get cheaper by going for the...

    Is anyone else experiencing this?

I thought you were going to ask if any of us were experiencing Island Withdrawal Syndrome...and yes I am! also experiencing the same board issue today.

    Cozumel Fire Guys Fundraiser

We picked up a couple for the GKids last week while down there. Just a note though.....they currently only have kids sizes available on the island. They were having a shipping issue on the adult sizes. Online should be fine, and will only cost $1 more than buying at Wet Wendy's. Should have...

COOKING in Cozumel - where to stay?

Henny has just completed some updates at Summer Place Inn. We stopped by to talk to her last week(she was our realtor) and it looks nice. We stayed there several times while completing our purchase & it is clean, comfortable & convenient. Mike

Check dives, private DMs, and local/shop policies

No offense taken....and I still do consider myself a novice. To expand....I actually have two diving cycles over that 25 years. We dove pretty regularly the first 5 or so years, then I got into golf & on the trips we took, she dove, I golfed. Around 2005, I realized I sucked at golf and started...

Check dives, private DMs, and local/shop policies

There have been many posts indicating your log book should be your proof of diving expertise and qualification of your ability by the Dive Op is not neccessary. I believe I fit into the middle 50% of divers that frequent Cozumel. Not a newbie that is afraid of their shadow, but not neccessarily...

Diver lost 15 Jan 2013 Cozumel

I have been following this thread since it's inception as we just returned from Cozumel this past Sunday and my first dive this trip was at Palancar Caves. It has been stated(although not directly from someone in the specific dive group) that the missing diver was in sight on ascent. What I...

Diver lost 15 Jan 2013 Cozumel

Hope for the best....this shows how quickly things change on a daily or even hourly basis. we dove Palancar Caves last Tuesday & hardly any current & Tormentos on Sat & the current was ripping. I just about aborted, but the DM saw my difficulty & wild eyes, came and calmed me and assisted...

    January 2013, Cozumel

I completely forgot the highlight of that first dive at Palancar. Came out of one of the swim throughs to a pinnacle with a beautiful turtle feeding...she came off the pinnacle and swam straight to me & we sat there for a few seconds face to face, maybe 5 " apart. I swear she smiled at me at...

    January 2013, Cozumel

Hate that we're not blue anymore, but feel blue sitting here at IAH waiting for our flight to Austin. For those still yet to arrive, you're in for a treat. Have to admit, haven't been in a dive in Coz since we bought our place 2 years ago, but it has been well worth the wait. Our first dives...
