    Passamaquoddy Bay anyone?

September is a great time to be in Eastport! If you don't mind crowds, time it with the Eastport Pirate Festival Sep 7-9.. it's hilarious and keeps non-diving family entertained while you are in the water. Last year we made a general "event" out of it with a schedule of dives planned at...

    Winter Diving in New Brunswick

We don't have a lot of that kind of diving any time of year. The only area where you'd have a chance of diving with seals is up north in Percé. There is a club that runs charters from June-Sep (Club nautique de Percé). You may be able to arrange something with them over the Winter, it's worth...

    Winter Diving in New Brunswick

Where in New Brunswick will you be visiting? The conditions/access vary depending on what coast line you are on. In the Bay of Fundy we dive year round, the visibility doesn't change much over Winter.. average is about 15ft, sometimes less or more but that is more weather dependent. The temps...

Looking for a dive place out east

I asked them about it.. I was good with the skate, the torpedo ray, the crab and even the anemone all being local. I haven't seen that kind of anemone there, plenty of frilled and stalked ones.. but there is lots of shoreline I haven't been on in NS. Jason (the owner of Torpedo Rays) said...

Looking for a dive place out east

Generally true.... the Bell Island wrecks (Newfoundland) however are in excellent condition even with the shallower/recreational depths.. lots of swim-through structure above deck and rooms to poke ones head into :)

Looking for a dive place out east

I expect they all are.. I haven't seen a turtle in the water there but doesn't mean that hasn't happened :) Absolutely they have had Ray sightings, and anemones and crabs!

Looking for a dive place out east

You mentioned not having been east of Quebec City.. have you dove at Les Escoumins? That is close by there and definitely worth seeing for amazing marine life. I don't know of any operators out that way though for guided diving. The closest dive shop that I know arranges assorted group trips...

Looking for a dive place out east

In New Brunswick there is Deer Island, which has the best variety and concentration of marine life on the East Coast. You can hire a guided dive with a DM, and depending on your experience there are several dives possible for drifts & walls (I am a guide); Guided Diving Photos: Deer Island, New...

How do I dive northern atlantic from Canada?

For diving off Deer Island NB, it doesn't really matter the time of year for visibility.. but access to some sites is limited in Winter and water temp gets down to around 40F or slightly below. Late Summer/early Fall is normally a nice balance of water temp/weather. Otherwise generally late...

How do I dive northern atlantic from Canada?

The best marine life diving in the East Coast is off Deer Island, New Brunswick (not kidding at all). Visibility averages 15ft, current water temp is 49-50F. Please do not attempt diving Deer Island without a guide however due to the extreme tidal range of the Bay of Fundy, this requires local...

Red/White dive flag or Alpha for shore diving off Cape Breton?

LOL.. nope, I should have mentioned that! The current can be wicked in there, and while I've had a few truly "slack tide" dives in there, usually I see a bit of current. But, sure is a nice shore dive.

Red/White dive flag or Alpha for shore diving off Cape Breton?

There is a barge wreck at Grand Narrows (at the Iona Bridge). It is a shore accessible wreck dive with incredible marine life. It is the best shore dive on Cape Breton in my opinion. It is tide dependent though, so get local advice and a local buddy before trying it. Grand Narrows, Cape...

    New to diving

There used to be a dive club on Moncton, but it's been inactive for a bit. They still have a Yahoo Groups board up. You could try posting there, several folks do still monitor the board.. diveexchange : Moncton Dive Club Otherwise I think you'll find that most divers in that area tend to...
