    Class for maintaining/servicing own equipment

Understood. I know they have to protect their dealer network. I would like to understand the inner workings of the equipment that I depend on with my life. Literally.

    Class for maintaining/servicing own equipment

I didn’t think Scubapro or any other manufacturer would allow that. I understand why. I am looking for a general regulator repair class so that if I am on some far-flung island in the Pacific somewhere and I have whistling reg or something, I have the where with all to fix it and not ruin an...

    Class for maintaining/servicing own equipment

That would be just what I would be looking for. I will give them a call. My daughter goes to NCSU, so it would give me an excuse to check up on her!

    Class for maintaining/servicing own equipment

Years ago, I took an all-day class on how to service my own Scubapro equipment. I don't remember it it was an "authorized" class or not. It has been so long ago, i have forgotten a lot of it. Are there any dive shops on the east coast to offer a weekend class for this type of thing? I can...

Scubapro Air 2 or Octo reg or both?

What started all of this is that my octo was leaking bubbles and I could not get it to stop. I had just had it serviced. It freeflowed even more in a checkout dive in a pool. I took it back to the LDS who serviced it and he made a quick adjustment in front of me. I thought that was the end of...

Scubapro Air 2 or Octo reg or both?

@shurite7, that is what I wanted to hear. Facts. Of course, I want to be safe, above all else. I am going to be travelling and will probably be diving with people that I am buddied up with or do not know, in some situations. If they would be looking for a octo reg, I would certainly want it to...

Scubapro Air 2 or Octo reg or both?

Very thoughtful comments from all. I wanted to eliminate a hose to simplify my rig. It is hard to believe that a company that has been in business for decades like Scubapro would make an unsafe product such as an Air 2 and even make several revisions to the product. It seems that if there are...

Scubapro Air 2 or Octo reg or both?

What is the current thought on using an Air 2 as the backup reg vs a dedicated octo reg? I have seen pros and cons both ways. I only want to do resort diving-not technical or cave diving.

Looking for experienced Scubapro tech to rebuild older regs

Follow up question. Does anyone dive with an Air 2 and not use an octo reg? I have a later model Air 2 that I use but a octo reg seems very redundant. I only want to do resort diving, not techincal or cave diving.

Looking for experienced Scubapro tech to rebuild older regs

You guys are great. Raleigh is a couple of hours from me. I will give Airtech a call. No, I did not get any parts back. The only reason I am trying to use these regs is all of the comments on this board that the mk 10 and G250 combo is one of the best combos ever. I have read that the newer...

Looking for experienced Scubapro tech to rebuild older regs

That sounds like a good idea. I thought it would be better to have all the regs conected so that eveeything can be optimized. I guess not. Good advice.

Thank you everyone for weighing in. Would like to service my own gear but will seek outside help on this one.

Looking for experienced Scubapro tech to rebuild older regs

Frustrating that someone took my regs, said they serviced them, charged me for it and then told me that I should just buy new equipment and kind of made me feel bad about the whole situation, like they were doing me a favor. I know from reading this Board that lots of people dive with vintage...

Looking for experienced Scubapro tech to rebuild older regs

From reading the Board, these regs were so well designed that the guts can be interchanged with newer model parts. That is what I am looking to do, so they won't become obsolete.

Also, where do you get the gauge to measure the creep? LDS showed it to me and said time to get new gear. I knew that wasn't the truth after reading tis board.

Looking for experienced Scubapro tech to rebuild older regs

Thank you everyone for all of the comments. The MK 10 is the original model that I bought in the early 80's. I also have an Air 1 that I still have but swapped it out on muy reg for the G250 after reading on this board how well they work together. Guy at LDS sells other brands but Scubapro, but...

Looking for experienced Scubapro tech to rebuild older regs

Scubapro MK 10 and G250 rebuild. Diving again after decade layoff. Got MK 10, G250 and R 108 serviced at LDS and they did a less than stellar job. LDS complained that I should not be diving with such old equipment. Charged me almost $100 for service. Said that my MK 10 “creeps” but was within...
