    Spyderco Caspian First Impressions

Wow this is an old thread being revived :) To answer your question, the caspian sits very securely in the factory sheath thanks to the Spydie hole. The plastic sheath has a 'button' that fits within the knife's hole and locks it in place. Never had the knife come out of the sheath unexpectedly...

    Spyderco Caspian Salt mini-review

Interesting... How well does the folding knife work with gloves? I know the hole on the Caspian is much larger than that on my Caly3.

    Spyderco Caspian Salt mini-review

Hmmm. Link fixed, sorry. I'm a warm water diver; not even a rash guard or wet suit, so I can't comment on gloves. In my original thread I comment on its small size and that it may not work with gloves. You might go over to the Spydie forum and post the question there: Spyderco General...

    Spyderco Caspian Salt mini-review

Happens to all of them. It's not the knife, it's from the tooling used in manufacturing. Just use your thumb nail to scrape the rust off and you'll be good to go. I've had mine for two summers and it has NEVER been rinsed off (just to prove a point). :D Also, I had to replace the factory straps...

Tobago in February - Recommendations Please

Good question. My son has trouble equalizing sometimes and needs to go down the anchor line slowly so drift dives are usually no-go for us. We've been working on his technique and he's getting better, but just how strong are the currents on the northern end of Tobago? Also, is the southern end...

Tobago in February - Recommendations Please

Hi MJ, We're also planning a trip to Trini for Carnival next February. Going to spend a few days in Tobago and I'm just beginning to do some research of my own on dive ops and spots. We're a group of 3 divers; what days will you be there?

9/13 Picnic Beach Dive-EVENT INFO ONLY, no off topic chat please

It was so nice to meet all of you today and put faces to the *user* names. Greg & Monica: I'm glad everything worked out well on your swim back. I hope to see both again at the next get together although I can't promise such pristine conditions as what we had today! :rofl3: The food and...

9/13 Picnic Beach Dive-EVENT INFO ONLY, no off topic chat please

Hi All - I've been watching this thread and wishing I could take part, but with my wife out of town I'm playing Mr. Mom this weekend - or so I thought. Just yesterday it was Mother-In-Law to the rescue and I'll be able to make it after all!! I'll be bringing my 16 & 15 yo sons along (both OW...

    Surefire for a dive light???

I dive with my SF 6P. I've added a second o-ring to the tail cap and it's worked fine so far. The deepest I've taken it is 80 fsw in St. Thomas. We penetrated the wreck Miss Opportunity and the beam using the standard head was great (I was too chicken s**t to take my Malkoff drop-in)...

Kid friendly instructors in Key Largo

I just took the family to Key Largo for Memorial Day weekend. Kind of a last minute decision so we didn't want to stay at one of the upper end resorts where the costs would be higher. We stayed at Marina Del Mar which is kid friendly and pretty laid back. They have a regular pool, a tot pool...

Looking for kid friendly Pennekamp Park snorkeling charter

I took the family to Pennekamp for Memorial Day weekend. We all went snorkelling including my 8 year old on the official park boat. Here's the link. Plenty of kids and families and a nice, shallow and relaxing 'dive'. The fee includes the vests with built-in CO2 inflators which I haven't found...

    LBTS Beach Dive Saturday 6/21?

Steve, It was nice to meet you this morning. Conditions were so mild; the perfect way to kick off the official start of summer. I'd estimate vis was 15' or so, but the floating sediment didn't lend itself much to any type of photography except macro. We saw the biggest French Angelfish ever...

You forgot one: Those of us in 'Northern Cuba' (see #45) recognize Altamonte Springs and points north as North Florida aka South Georgia. Regards. From your neighbors in South Florida :D I gotta fly to Saint Somewhere I'm close to bodily harm - J Buffett

Hotspots in St. Maarten or nearby

Thanks man. I'll be in your island in about a month (on a cruise, so one day only) and I will definitely give Jesus a call. We'll be a party of 3, so a 6-pack would be ideal. Cheers, Hector

AOW training plus AOW diver, together?

You'd do well to consider Brent at BlueWater Divers. We just spent Memorial weekend in Key Largo at Marina Del Mar and had a great time. Brent worked with my son while I dove with my other son. He was very professional and accomodating. You can read about it here. Look around post #15. We...

I'm in the Keys diving this weekend. Where are you?

Brent, you beat me to the punch with your post! We're still recovering from a fantastic Memorial Day weekend in Key Largo. First off, we paid $75 per person for 2 dives and found ourselves on a 6-pack with really friendly divers, instructor, and Captain. You can't beat that. Our fist dive was...
