Question ISO “Best” All-Inclusive Dive Resort Options in the Caribbean

The "rumor" is they are closed/out of business/in liquidation. Some talk of reopening as a cruise ship-oriented beach club, maybe including dives, but don't know.

    Fiji Airways carry-on warning

I also took two carry-on bags on Fiji air in 2019, although they weighed the rolling bag at LAX. Prior to the Covid stuff they allowed a carry-on and personal item like every other airline. I am just trying to figure out what they are doing with their new policy so I can pack camera gear...

    Fiji Airways carry-on warning

Good luck, I hope it goes smoothly. As I recall, the luggage cost for the taveuni flights was not too bad and of course, pretty much everything has to get loaded as luggage due to the aircraft size. I will look for your report later.

    Fiji Airways carry-on warning

Well, that is good. Sorry for my part in worrying you. I am sure I will still be anxious at LAX later this year if I do the usual and have camera and lenses in a shoulder bag and camera housing, flash units and ports in a rolling carry-on. At a minimum I will probably trade out the rolling...

Info Crotch Strap for Scubapro Hydros Pro BC

I just looked at mine and see no place for a strap to attach, although I suppose a creative person could come up with something. Mine is an earlier one, though and perhaps they added something in later years. Sorry. Just saw video below so went and looked at mine again and found it. If you...

Dive Rite Hydro Lite review thread

I think they still have people kneel in the sand while demonstrating basic skills early in cert process, but I am not sure. I don't find that a particularly compelling criticism. I think perhaps DiveRite needs a bit better quality control and should have done a better job on the tank strap...

    Fiji Airways carry-on warning

I don't travel until later in the year. Sorry I can't help you with this, but would be very interested in hearing your first hand experience about how they are currently handling this, as it will affect how I pack gear.

    Fiji Airways Baggage Allowances

Yes, Business class is another matter. I fly economy. Yes, business class is another matter, at least to NAN. I fly economy on dive trips. Wish I could do better, but my $900 airfare would instead be $3900 for the same flights, and $2400 if I picked different flights. Since my wife and two...

    Fiji Airways Baggage Allowances

I have flown LAX to NAN as recently as 2019. They did weight carry-ons both directions and if over 15 lbs or thereabouts, you were likely to have to check it, even if it was camera gear. I guess they don't always do it because I have seen people say they did not experience it. For checked...

    Fiji Airways carry-on warning

For anyone traveling to Fiji, I just noticed this on the Fiji Airways site: "As part of our Travel Ready Covid-19 safety programme, our Cabin Baggage allowance has been amended. You may carry the allowance stated below, however, your personal item needs to be included in the 1 (in economy), or...

Has anyone seen or used the new Scubapro Hydros Pro BCD

Your post was a few years ago, but I just saw it. She messed around with the AL for a bit and decided she did not like it after all and returned it and bought the Hydros Pro. She was able to get the newer version. I am still diving my first gen version and she has been happy with hers. I got...

UW Camera gear tax and ferry help

So far at least, the camera duty scam has been limited to the Pacific side of Mexico, most notably Cabo. Still, it would not surprise me to see it start in Cancun or Coz eventually. The amount they charge for the duty is 16% of the "value" of the housing, as determined by the person making you...

    To go or no? (covid)

Probably does not matter, but I just realized I said trip was in a couple weeks; it is actually almost four. As of now, no requirement to quarantine on return.

    To go or no? (covid)

Four of us are scheduled to go to Coz in a couple weeks. I have been monitoring the coronavirus rates over the past month and they still seem to be increasing. All four of us are vaccinated, so our health concerns are reduced, but I worry about what restaurants are open, mask rules, etc. We...

Alternative weight pockets for Hydros Pro

I also attached two 5lb pockets on the waist strap. Utilizing the trim pockets when desired, I can easily carry my usual 8-12 lbs, and could go up to 14. If I needed more, there are several companies that make larger pockets. A company called IST makes an 8lb that works. I could ditch the...

    El Moro needs help

I agree with the gofundme. I won't be there until later this year, so cannot go by, but would be happy to send some $ to help out.

    Aqualung Legend vs Scubapro?

They also make pink ones, I think, but trust me the purple ones are purple, at least on land. Got a pair for the wife. Not sure they would be good drysuit fins and I don't think they are great for frogkicks, so probably not your best choice, but I was trying to support your purple goal.
